Good morning peeps

I've got no idea what's going on with me it's been 11 weeks since I had a heart attack and I still can't stop crying, im still in pain even tho my gp stopped the statins to see if they were the cause I'm now paying for physio because I've got no idea where I am on my recovery,I feel that there has been no support for anyone during this time because you can't get to see anybody even tho you can hit up the night clubs now.rang over 😆

You’re not wrong, could be peeping out like that as well. It’s one of the joys of the English language.

Morning, it's not that long ago since the event so you're bound to feel upset & scared , it's a big shock & it takes its toll . My situation isnt the same as yours but life changing ,I think I've cried most days for the last 3 years 😬 sending you hugs & I hope you feel better soon xx

When we have a heart issue, it’s as if the ground as opened up under our feet, and the life we knew flies out of the window and this new life flies in. We have to come to terms with what as happened to us and our brain is still struggling to process what is going on so being emotional is one thing we have to deal with. You say your in pain but don’t say where, general aches and pains? or something more pacific.

Best wishes Pauline

It's my neck, shoulders and back,gp said it's side effects from the pills but I've just had physio and had a great massage and been told it's because I'm tense,I feel a million dollars now 👍

That’s great that you are feeling so good after a massage. Going through what you have, you are bound to feel nervous and tense. Learning to deal with what as happened to us mentally is one of the hardest lessons we have to learn on this journey of not being invincible 😂

Best wishes Pauline

Tension makes sense for the pain. Well done for taking charge & getting a massage. It’s not that long since you had a massive health event and it’s bound to make you wobbly- both emotionally and physically. Crying is good, it’s a reaction to how you’re feeling. To not cry even though you want to would be much worse. Are you having any counselling? Ask your GP if you can be referred. I’ve found it really helpful since my heart attack in April. Also, ask if cardiac rehab is available in your area. If it is you should be referred - but I’ve found this referral doesn’t always happen unless you push for it.

Hope you feel stronger soon x

Good morning

I've spoken to my gp and as far as cardiac rehab goes they are not doing it it's all being done over the phone,I had 2 phone calls from the rehab after the event and they said I was doing ok and signed me off into the care of my gp,as for counselling there is nearly a 6 month wait to see someone unless you go private,I'm already going private for my physio purse strings will snap if I go for the counselling to

Thanks for your reply 👍

To the best of my knowledge you can self refer to IAPT, although I don’t honestly know what sort of waiting time it is. It’s such a shame your rehab team weren’t more helpful. Mine has only been over the phone but it included a cardiac psychologist and that’s been invaluable. Some hospitals have psychologists - I know the Brompton do, so it might be worth asking? Sorry you’re going through this - I came to the conclusion that heart attacks are relatively common in the medical world, but not at all common for those who have them xx

I am not medically trained but I would doubt that your problems are related to your heart medication. I would guess more of your minds reaction to the trauma you have suffered with the heart attack. Pester your GP until they get you to speak with the correct people. Good luck and I hope you get better soon

Hi it’s common to think that every twinge or ache is “the big one”. I certainly did but part of mine I think was being more aware of every ache, niggle etc that went on in my body. I was lucky in that I, touchwood, have not had any side effects that have caused me grief.Ps congratulations on joining the survivors club, you’re a winner just getting through in.

When I was discharged after my 3 stents I was told to just potter around for a week or so then I could start walking more. Just 5 mins at first as well and no walking the dogs in case the pulled suddenly.

Have you had any referrals to the follow up physio? Worth chasing the cardiac team that you were under for this, but even before covid I’m told it could be a postcode lottery if it were run in all areas. The phase 4 physio I had just started before lockdown has restarted recently but I’m doing more myself now so I haven’t rejoined it. There are programs on YouTube from the BHF which give good rehab advice as well.

Hope all goes well

Long long time since I hit the nightclubs and I don’t think the Galltymore in Cricklewood really counted..😉😉

Good morning All rehab was done over the phone I had 2 phone calls from the cardiac nurse and they signed me off into the care of my gp,physio I'm doing private at a wee pretty pennie a session because they are not doing it via the hospital, least a 6 months waiting list for counselling unless I go private for that to,my gp has been great with helping with what he can but it's really hard when everything is over the phone, just need my tear ducts to dry up for a wee while spending a fortune on tissues 🤭

Thanks for your reply

Take care

My standard counselling is “Dry your eyes, blow your nose and have a cup of tea” £10 please.Seriously I think we all go through the “why me” stages and that takes a while to get over. But you are a winner, you have come though the HA and had stents fitted so your plumbing has had a good service and MOT. Now you need to face the what caused it in the first place, and that can be a number of reasons some of which are under our control…ish. Easier said than done if you need to lose a bit of weight.

I got a real dose of tough love from the cardiac nurse when I was in hospital. Overweight, drank too much, high blood pressure, family history, type2 diabetes. There’s probably a few more but these were the bad boys in my case. The only one I was chuffed about was that I never smoked…

So I can control a couple of these and indirectly all bar the family history. Lose weight and cut out on the beer, that’s helped my type 2 and the blood pressure enormously.

This is for me and it took a HA for me to make those changes for myself.

Hopefully my ramblings make a bit of sense, if not ignore them 🤣.
