STRESS I KNOW I AM COMPLAINING ABOUT THE STORM BUT MY UNCLE IS NOT WELL
Hi all besides the snow. My uncle has some serious health issues his kidneys are not working he is on dialysis 3 times a week. He was in the hospital for a month. Then you know how you can’t stay there that long and they basically kick you out to a place to help you get stronger, well he did not like

Dialysis & after effects
I have started Dialysis recently (about 3 weeks ago} and am having some rather unpleasant effects. I have extreme wind which is accompanied by urgent need to evacuate bowel. The following day, bowel movements are frequent & loose. Sorry - not a nice subject - but is this a common effect of dialysis

Preparing for Dialysis
My mom was diagnosed with stage 4 CKD back in November. She is now stage 5 with a egrf 8. She has had a call this morning from the renal nurse saying we think we shud start preparing you for dialysis whilst your still well. I'm a little upset as I thought she'd holds out abit longer. It's so daunting

Hi all. I think this might be my first post on this page. I'm in a few other groups as well. First off, I'm a 48 year old male. I've been married for 12 years and have an 8 year old son. I was a virgin when I met my wife. We really connected when we first met, which was around 3 years before we

Hi all! Prior to our move about a year and a half ago, I was a mentor and volunteer for the NKF. I would visit with kidney dialysis patients. Many were willing to put up with rigors of 3 x a week dialysis at a center, rather than a transplant. Many were afraid of after a transplant and what kind of

Just joined the group
I was diagnosed with ADA Nephropathy in August of 2015. I had a living donor but he was not cleared due to his own health condition that was discovered. I am preparing for both dialysis and a transplant. Hoping all goes well. I am encouraged to see there are a lot of folks who have had successful transplants

Outlooks
Reading peoples comments on here it seems to me that the medical community in general is not much interested in kidney disease till dialysis or transplants; whereas patients would like to begin to avoid those things for as long as possible.

O- blood type
Hi, I'm Bridgette. I'm 30 years old and have been dealing with kidney failure since I was 19. Had a transplant in 2012 but rejected after a year and needed it removed. Started dialysis again in 2014 and still am currently on it. I'm O- blood type. Trying to get relisted.

Living Donor vs Cadaver
I see many posts out here for living donors. Not everyone can find a living donor. I just want to tell you a story and something to think about, especially if you are on dialysis. I lost my first kidney a living kidney from my brother-in-law. I was placed on the list with a PRA of 99. They told
