I was diagnosed with ADA Nephropathy in August of 2015. I had a living donor but he was not cleared due to his own health condition that was discovered. I am preparing for both dialysis and a transplant. Hoping all goes well. I am encouraged to see there are a lot of folks who have had successful transplants.

Hi - I'm sorry to hear about your living donor. I had several living donors fall through for various reasons. It can be very stressful and upsetting. I ended up getting a deceased donor kidney in June 2016 after being on PD for 15 months and I'm feeling great. I wish you the best.

I also had 2 living donors not be able to help me due to their own health issues. In the meantime was offered a cadaver kidney. I only waited 15 months, too. The kidney came from a 16 year old and was a fantastic match at 4/6. Here I am 18 years later with fantastic kidney function. Labs yesterday showed my creatinine at 0.9. A transplant is a TRUE MIRACLE and very appropriate to say a "gift of life."
Good luck in your journey! We are all here for you
