How to prepare for a kidney transplant?
Hello, I am new to this website and have a few questions about getting a kidney transplant. I have been on dialysis 4 years and am on two transplant lists. I received my first “call” last week but it was a high risk kidney so I turned it down. Anyway, it appears that I am getting closer to the top of

Christmas
Well I have dialysis tomorrow morning since my usual Monday treatment is Christmas day. This really sucks, getting up at 4:30 in the freezing cold fills me with such dread! Moments like this I hate life! What's even worse is I have nothing to give these guys who keep me alive and sometimes laughing for

Cost of anemia meds once Stage 5 on dialysis
I'm barely surviving now on SS as my sole source-of-income. It's sites like this one: https://www.drugs.com/price-guide/triferic that make me wonder if I'll survive for very long if I board the dialysis train. ...from $1,546.37 for 1200 milliliters (one dose?) Comments? I won't qualify for Medicare

dialysis temporary or permanent?
Hi! I'm merrianne11 and am new here. I've just begun dialysis as of today and don't know if it's going to be temporary or permanent. Doctor just says "we'll see". My kidneys are damaged due to chronic, frequent kidney stones, about 5mm every 2 to 3 weeks for 2 years. It's been a strange road but my

Living on dialysis
To all of the people on dialysis count Your Blessings. Without dialysis we all know what would happen. So instead of complaining, thank God for the miracle of dialysis, we wake up every day. When I wake up the first thing thank God for another day with my loved ones. This is the only organ disease

Pkd
Hi! My name is Gail. My mother was on dialysis for 16 years because of PKD. I myself was diagnosed with PKD in 06. I am terrified of dialysis btw, fortunately I didn't have to do dialysis. Then in 09 we discovered brain aneurysms due to PKD. Had my transplant in 2014, from a cadaver donor. Then a radical

Muscle Pain & Weakness
Hi, I've been on dialysis for a year now and on the whole apart from being incredibly boring and time consuming, its not too bad. My main problem seems to be generalised aching most of the time and I tend to get a dull pain just above the knees especially when going up and down stairs or getting out

Feeling helpless
Hi, I've thought long and hard about posting on here as I know my partner would be less than impressed if he knew but I don't know where else to turn. Seeing as I'm new I suppose I had better start at the beginning! My partner has CKD, has around 3% function and is currently on hemodialysis 3 times per
