Kidney Buddy
I'm new to this site. I was diagnosed with kidney disease at 26. I started dialysis at 55 & received a new kidney at 64. I would LOVE to have a kidney "buddy" again! My close friend who had been thru my similar experiences with ESRD passed about a year ago. We shared so much, especially support that

Living Donation and Blood Pressure
I am considering offering to be a live donor for my father who is about to go on dialysis. I am 50 years old and very healthy; however, whenever I have my blood pressure checked it is around 130-135/80 which I guess is technically categorized as stage 1 hypertension. It has been in this range for the

Can I donate unused Manual PD supplies?
My husband was on Manual PD for two months, then was switched to using an overnight cycler a few months ago. I have 15 boxes of Manual PD bags--the supplier won't take them back, the dialysis clinic said to just open the bags and pour them down the toilet. Any suggestions?

Dialysis vs. Transplant Survival Rates
My father (age 74) is in the process of starting peritoneal dialysis. While he has had high blood pressure for most of his adult life and developed type II diabetes around 10 years ago, he has been living a pretty active healthy lifestyle. I am considering offering to be a live donor and am trying

Went from Stage 3 to Stage 5 in 2 years - low protein diet?
I was first diagnosed with CKD in August 2006. I noticed blood in my urine and went to an urgent care and they sent me immediately to the ER. My BP at the ER was 260/140. The doctor in the ER tried to lower my BP too fast and I passed out and almost went into a seizure. I was in the hospital for a week

Interesting comment
"I had a routine medical last month, which I was sure would be OK. But the blood test results showed that I have chronic kidney disease, stage 3a. I'm 60. Will I eventually need to have dialysis and a kidney transplant? Do I need treatment to prevent my kidneys deteriorating further? I have never had

What to know about traveling with Medicare (for USA Patients)
Planning to travel abroad this summer? Before you go, remember to look into Medicare coverage outside the United States. If you have Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Part B (Medical Insurance), your health care services and supplies are covered when you’re in the U.S. However, in general, Medicare

FIVE SURPRISING WAYS YOU COULD BE DAMAGING YOUR KIDNEYS
Once we get told about having CKD our first reaction is often, "WHY?" If we know we have Diabetes and/or High Blood Pressure that somewhat mitigates the reason. However, there are many of us who if we find out that we are prone to getting CKD we could take action to stop or slow it down. It takes
