Hi everyone first off my name is Jennifer I'm 30 years old I receive my transplant at 13 years old from my dad been stable for a long time thank God but in this pass year I'm reach to stage 3 recently which for me a deal maybe some of u is not a big deal but I'm frightened that soon my kidney will give up on me my gfr been from 55 ,48,54,75 and now 44 but I'm seeing my new dr which I'm really trying to get use to been on the same meds for a long time then he prescribed me some new ones like varsatan which cause me an allergic reaction , ramipril which caused my gfr to go down and most recently candersatan there was no allergic reaction everything was fine when confident to my last check was not that nervous but then to my suprise my creatine when from 1.18 to 1.4 and gfr 44 that really scare me I express my concern to that dr he just told me to stop taking that med to see if it was the cause and to come back in 3 months every since then I been worried , depress and feel that by this year or next I will be on dialysis. I became really concern that called my old dr explain to him was going on he told me that candersatan make gfr go down 10 points I felt kind relive but still worried . I just hope that when I go next time to this dr the gfr is better I feel honestly that his not really taking my case as serious I really thinking about changing drs . Can someone please give me advice to calm my nerves and worries because I know is not good for my kidneys . Also wat should I do regards this new dr .???

Hi Jennifer, sorry to hear you're having all these issues and having a new doctor doesn't help. I think waiting three months after stopping a medication to get labs is too long. If my doctor even makes the slightest change in a med, I'm in within 2-4 weeks for labs. She changed my magnesium med and I had labs drawn a few weeks after. I would call the doctor's office and tell them you want labs drawn to see where your numbers are; not necessarily an earlier appointment, just an opportunity to get blood drawn and hopefully put your mind at ease. Best of luck.

Jennifer, I had my transplant at 14 and I am now 52. There are a few things I have learned: 1 That you do not have to stay with a doctor you are not comfortable with. 2 They can not make you do anything. 3 I am my best advocate. I've learned these things the hard way. Also, I agree with kmshea, my doctor would never let me go that long after a change to get labs. You have a voice, don't be afraid to use it. lisa
