chronic infections and trying to be a primary school teacher
Hello. This is my first post on here. I didn’t know this existed until a week ago and it’s good not to feel so alone! I have been a teacher (reception children aged 4-5) for over 15 years now. I am sure that it has contributed to me getting more chest infections. Last year I was on antibiotics pretty

Prednisolone 5mg soluble tablets as mouthwash

Recovery from surgery
I’ve been on prednisolone for two and a half years and have now tapered down to one mg. and am taking 0 on the odd day hoping slowly to reduce to zero. However, I now have to have abdominal surgery in a couple of weeks and the consultant has said it would be better for my recovery if I was no longer

It’s back 😩
Good evening, I had PMR 3 years ago and managed to wean myself off prednisone in August. I have been feeling unwell and achey recently, went to the drs and had blood test. My ESR level was 40 ( it should be between 0-20) and the Dr thinks PMR is back. I really don’t want to go back on steroids as

Am I Relapsing
I was diagnosed by GP with PMR Aug 2019. Started with 15 mg pred got down to 3 by November 2021 then had a relapse. Extreme fatigue major symptom. Saw Rheumi who confirmed PMR put back to 10 mg Dec 2021 with the advice of trying MTX in May this year. Said I’d prefer to try reducing again but slowly

Post Viral Breathlessness
Hi guys, I had a virus about a month ago which seems to have knocked my asthma over a cliff. After two courses of antibiotics and two courses of steroids my chest is absolutely clear of infection but I'm still breathless. I finished my second course of steroids on Saturday and thought I was better but

Depression after heart attack and colitis flare up
I recently posted that I had my first heart attack and was struggling with my emotions and many of you kindly sent messages of support. I have now been diagnosed with depression and have been reassured that it is very common. After a very tearful telephone appointment with my GP she prescribed 15mg

Betcha your doubling rate is lower than mine :-)
After recent posting on spleen laceration and a weekend ER visit, I spent most of today in scheduling a blizzard of follow-on appointments. First one was with my day-to-day oncology lead. His pet vampires took 10 vials of blood this time (to rerun FISH and flow cytometry etc.) So then I get a call

PMR Returns
I had PMR 13 years ago, which was diagnosed by my Doctor as I walked towards him, (no blood tests or path involved at all). He started me on 60mg Prednisolone and the pain stopped within 24 hours, steroids were gradually reduced over the next year as well as bloods and bone marrow tests. Been free until

removal of stitches after bypass
has anyone had stitches removed after a bypass operation? I had a bypass 4 years ago. Had keloid scarring so my go gave me steroid injection along my scar. The skin on my chest is quite thin and the wire used to rewire my sternum is now very visible. I’m worried the wires will break through my skin.

Post RA diagnosis return to Sports or NOT.
I am 51 and had a preliminary RA diagnosis (not 100%) 4 weeks ago and am on Salazopyrin following steroid injection. No significant/ obvious impact of drugs to date on symptoms, but know its early, so just looking for some light at end of tunnel or a reality check. Prior to RA coming on overnight I

30mg to zero in five days??
Not about PMR per se. Friend has a severe chest infection and as part of his medication has been prescribed 30 mg of steroids for five days, then zero. I am just wondering how this is possible given all the advice about tapering?

PMR or Myofascial?
I’ve been treated for PMR since November 2020 and am now off steroids but feeling really quite unwell. I’ve now been told I have myo fascial, not PMR. I am unsure what to do next.

Reply from Rheumy!!
I recently agreed with my GP that he could seek advice from a Rheumy to try to help with my Polymyalgia. This is what I have just read was the reply sent back to my GP. " I fully agree with Dr **** (this was my previous Rheumy who was extremely rigid in following the guidelines, which didn't work for

New diagnosis
I am female and 42 years old. I was diagnosed with RA back in November. I had a steroid injection, it helped, but at a review after 3 weeks it was decided I needed methotrexate. Consultant gave me 6 weeks of Prednisolone to tide me over until the MTX kicks in. I take one naproxen a day too. I am so much
