An update on my wife. With a question...
Hey everyone. I hope everyone is doing well and a sincere thanks for the time everyone took to reply to me about my wife. She finished her antibiotics Sunday evening and her phlegm has gone from luminescent green to clear. So that's a result first of all so far. Energy levels have slowly increased

Etanercept now Imraldi
Hi I was told on 2 separate occasions I was going to start on Etanercept and on my 3rd call to a nurse it’s now Imraldi? I had to get a pneumonia vaccination before the paper work could go off and the prescription done which I’m hoping it has this week . I spoke to the nurse about Imraldi but she wouldn

COPD - ANYONE HAVE HELP WITH WASHING/DRESSING ETC
Hello. I was diagnosed with Emphysema back in 2018 and then in 2019 with COPD. Supposed to have had a yearly review but because of Covid this didn't happen until last month. The COPD has progressed somewhat. Now on 2 Inhalers and Steroids. Does anyone else find that they need help with washing

PET/CT Scan Normal, Bloods Normal, but Responds to Steroids!
I tapered off prednisolone completely to prepare for the scan, as requested. I had been reducing by 1mg/day every 3 weeks. When my appointment letter arrived, I accelerated this to -1mg/day every week. That meant I took the last pill the day before the scan. I had to be driven there and back because

Ouch!
I went for my free B12 jab from the surgery yesterday. The nurse that did it botched a blood test a few months back, leaving me with a lot of bruising. OK, so what can she do wrong this time, I thought? She put the needle into my arm and the pain was horrendous - I've not had a jab that hurt that much

Risk of PMR to GCA
Hi everyone, Could anyone clarify this for me please? “I would warn that you need to be very mindful of your symptoms though, if left untreated PMR can morph into GCA - a very different and dangerous beast.” If PMR isn’t treated with steroids, what % then go on to develop GCA? This figure must be

Pseudomonas. Can steroids help to eradicate pseudomonas?
Following a nasty virus at Xmas still struggling with excessive mucus & wheezinessConsultant suggested prednisone might help when nothing showing up in sputum sample but most recent one revealed a small amount of pseudomonas. Would steroids help please? Linda

rheumatologist and gp have differing views on treatments.
Hi, have had PMR for five years now, with panic episodes of unfounded GCA. I have been on varying dosages of steroids, ranging from 50mg to 15 mg and each time reducing off of them at different speeds. I have been under the care of my gp having seen a neurologist in that time. The steroids have caused

taking steroids during the night
as I suffer with a fuzzy head for about 4 to 6 hours after taking my steroids at breakfast, I am thinking about taking them about 2am. Can I do this and what would I need to eat with them. This would be for about a week after each taper when everything settles down

PMR flare, muscle pain or side effects of medication?
I reduced prednisolone from 11mg to10mg a fortnight ago. Not been feeling great for the last week, I'm not sleeping very well, I am struggling to turn over in bed and to get out of bed, but the pain and stiffness are mostly in my right hip, my lower back and my chest. I thought it was a muscle problem

so worried about results
hi all well to cut a long story short, I had a terrible chest infection all of December, 3 lots of antibiotics and steroids which eventually cleared it all up. Had a sputum test which came back ok, but the doctor wants to talk to me about my chest X-ray. I have convinced myself that it is something nasty

Trochanteric Bursitis Diagnosis
Hello everyone - following on from my last post - hip and groin pain and all the most excellent advice and shared experiences, I rocked up at the surgery yesterday with a print out of parts of the answers I got and a piece of paper with all the things I wanted to discuss - possible bursitis, iliopoas

Prednisolone experience
Prednisolone experience, thanks for request. It's nearly a year since my PMR diagnosis and starter treatment of 15 mg of prednisolone for three weeks. There was some pain relief so I was started on a tapering programme. After weeks of remissions and flare ups, I reached 10 mg last August for a happy

Relief of Myofascial pain at last.
Good afternoon. With my recent increase of steroids (December) the #Myofascial pain in my right shoulder blade had reared it's ugly head (I think it had diminished on 8mg). It's been around throughout my 6 year journey and now I can acknowledge what a pain in the neck it has been. HAS been! I am not

PMR without steroids?
Hubby (55) was just diagnosed with PMR that we suspect he's had for about two years. He'd like to try and work through it without taking prednisone since every post we read is about people trying to get off of it. Do you think it's possible to manage the pain with other means and methods long enough

Started on dupilimab a month ago. Mepo, Benra and Omalizumab didn't work well enough to get me off steroids.I reckon I have had 60+ courses of steroids in the last eight years. My condition has robbed me of the ability to do what I used to do - hobbies are a distant memory. I work and sleep. From the

A glass of wine??
Whilst all info PMR and steroids state avoid alcohol, I am no lush but do love my six o’clock tipple. Since being diagnosed I have completely gone off red wine 😳😳 however Rose seems fine and apparently has many anti- inflammatory benefits and more reservatol. So would a small glass or two harm?

Possible flare
Hi all, I reduced my steroids from 9mg to 8mg on 4th Feb. The last three days I have suffered from head pain which does not improve with paracetamol. I have spoken to doctor asking if I should increase steroids who advised me to stay on 8mg as pain is not around temporals and to increase amitriptyline

Jaw pain could this be GCA
I'll try to keep this as short as possible. I had PMR for about 3 years and it finally went into remission. I was unable to stop steroids completely due to having acquired adrenaline sufficiency. So I'm now taking a very low dose of hydrocortisone three times a day. But I've been experiencing a great
