Just an update on my last post. As I mentioned I had the X-ray and scan done privately as there is a long wait for scans on NHS.
They were both done and the results were sent straight through to the GP.
I had Hoped to get the steroid injection within a couple of days again privately.
I telephoned the surgery several times as it took 2 weeks to get the referral for the injection. GP has not discussed the results with me and when I left a message querying
The Apixaban the answer he gave receptionist was for me to ask the person doing the injection. Having received the referral I had the injection the following day. I stopped Apixaban for 24 hours . Had 2 injections in same shoulder one side tendinitis the other side osteoarthritis. He checked the shoulder thoroughly with the scanner to hit the right spot. I was told to expect pain and bruising for a few days. It’s 3 days now and so far no bruising and not too painful. Hopefully I will get at least a few months pain free.
The whole procedure cost about £1,200.00.

Yes it was at least a 6 week wait for the ultrasound scan then however long it takes for another appt for the injection. I had been in pain for some time as it’s very difficult to get an appointment with my GP. I didn’t feel I could wait 6 weeks. Hopefully I may get pain free soon. Hope yours will go well I had been warned the injection was very painful but I didn’t feel a thing 😜
When I saw NHS rheumy last last year I told him I had trouble with one shoulder and thumb on same side. He immediately gave me steroid injection in both places which worked almost immediately When I saw him in May my dhoulder was again painful so he injected again
No ultrasound or any thing. Not quite as good as last time and since then my thumb has started clicking again and painful especially on the morning. Unfortunately I won't be seeing him again until december.I have a good relationship with him, probably because I saw him privately for four years before he gave up his private practice.
Am currently on 1mg pred but reducing to .5 next week. Been on pred for 6 years so hopefully the end is on sight!
