Controlling Spasticity following Spinal Injury

Tizanidine and Dantrolene I have tried both of these together and separately for periods of more than a year with no noticeable effect on spasticity, although the dosage of Tizanidine was low (2mg per day).

Difficulty getting prescribed H2 Blockers.

I was prescribed Ranitidine when I was discharged from hospital last January 2020. This was then withdrawn and since, my pharmacy has not been able to obtain the substitutes which the doctors have subsequently prescribed:- famotidine, cimetidine and nizatidine. Does anyone know if these are now available

So far I am doing good with not taking the tizanidine as he ordered me not to take and taking the 10mg baclofen every 3 hours instead of every 2.

New Neuro update

He took me off of Tizanidine as I take 200mg of Tegretol at night. He said he was 'not comfortable' in prescribing me that much medication. I haven't stopped the Tizanidine just yet because it's in my pillbox planner through Sunday morning. When I refill it tomorrow I will not add it in.

Neurology and orthotic appointment

After a full neurological assessment, my consultant suggested that I keep taking the baclofen and tizanidine. Tizanidine is a short-acting muscle relaxant. My consultant wants me to increase the dose of Tizanidine am/pm.

Muscle spasms and walking

Muscle relaxers always make me drowsy, and though the tizanidine I use now doesn't make me drowsy for long, I am loathe to take it during the day. However, recently the muscle spasms that make it harder to walk are starting much earlier in the day.

Painkillers causing sleep probs.

But because I had been put on tizanidine in the mean time I still had sleep probs but because sleep studies came up normal. I did not know it was tizanidine at the time because of course I had been taking matrifen at the same time.

More spasms with Tegretol?

I take this in addition to my baclofin and & Tizanidine. I tried to look online to see if this is possible but I can't find anything that says it causes more spams. It's frustrating if this is the cause of them to be more frequent.

A New Way

I have been on Plaquinol and Tizanidine for 6 weeks and I am starting to feel better, however I have developed an itchy rash on my torso. Am taking Zyrtec and it has calmed down.

Changing the timing of your med intake.

The dr did give me the option to take my med tizanidine 4x's a day. She did give me a warning that I would have to watch my liver. I like my liver even though I have no real clue of what it really does. I take Baclofen 20mg and 10mg 3x's a day and tizanidine 4mg and 2mg 3x's a day

Daily muscle relaxer

My rheumatologist switched me from Flexeril to Tizanidine (Zanaflex), nightly. Does anyone have an opinion on which has the least side effects for long term use? I do have a sub-set of cluster migraines (TAC), I didn't ask him but I wonder if that's why he switched me, he didn't say why.
