liver transplant
I got my own last Thursday, waited two and half years and had one faulty call got to the hospital and it wasn’t as we wanted . But it’s been in since Thursday and all good so far 👍🤞. Keeping fingers crossed that it keeps going well, I would like to thank everyone that sent me best wishes. Stay safe

Hi All. First time on here. I’m currently being worked up at Boston VA hospital for a kidney transplant. Being a veteran, the VA will pay for transplant at a community hospital here in Boston. I’m not sure exactly what to expect… any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Liver issues and leg pain?
Fairly random question but while I wait for a drs appointment I thought I'd ask....I am awaiting a liver transplant for PSC and I'm getting those dulcit aches in my side that usually indicate imminent cholangitis, but! Whenever this happens I get really bad sharp aching down the outside of my upper leg

Hello from Manchester
Just to say hello - I have had a recent diagnosis of SLE - Lupus and grateful to have discovered Lupus UK - having spent too much time doom=scrolling and reading about Selena Gomez and kidney transplants. Wishing everyone a good day and positive mental health in our personal battles.

Erectile disfunction
Hi, since I have had a liver transplant I have struggled to maintain an erection. My consultant has sent me for tests, I think they tested my testosterone levels but everything seems okay. Since my transplant in October 2021. I have got cirrhosis again. They are keeping an eye on me as I'm not far off

Update from a worried mom.
I didn't realise it has been two months when I first posted about my son. It has now been confirmed that he is now terminal .It really bought it home when his gp rang to say he had completed the D1500 form that has to be sent to the government I think he said. Anthony went into a nursing home last Thursday

weight gain
I’m wondering if anyone else having had a kidney transplant is dealing with a large amount of weight gain. If so how are you dealing with it?

Mycophenolate trial?
Hi, I've been invited to take part in a drug trial of mycophenolate in early stage Limited Systemic Scleroderma. It's being overseen by Prof Denton and Royal Free/ UCLH. I understand the drop is commonly used for people receiving organ transplants and in the diffuse cutaneous form of Sac, but the trial

Never rains just pours….😡😡
Now being tested for rheumatoid arthritis due to extremely painful ankles, knee and wrists. Hopefully if positive this new addition to the family will get on well with my IPF but as long as the lung transplant can proceed I’m cool. 🤪🤪 Stay safe xx

Protein intake after kidney transplant.
I am a 71 year old man almost 16 months out from a cadaveric renal transplant and doing well. I have been exercising for over 10 years, I currently do 30 minutes of calisthenics three times a week and walk on a treadmill for an hour 7 days a week. I read that protein intake is important for seniors

Medicare and Transplant
First off, ‘Hello’ to everyone. My husband will be having a kidney transplant on March 10. He just turned 60 years old and currently he’s on my insurance. I know that he can get on Medicare for the transplant surgery and three years post transplant. Does he have to sign up himself or is that done at

Newswire Spring 2023 - my thoughts
I just finally got round to reading this and am left feeling more inspired and positive on the whole. There is still a long way to go and so much to learn about the baffling diseases of PMR and GCA but when I think back to when I was first diagnosed and struggling between 2012 and 2015, there are definite

Dilated cardiomyopathy
Hi, My name is Charlie and I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy last year. Unfortunately last month I went into another severe ventricular tachycardia storm where I had to be put to sleep for 4 days, I've got a pacemaker and a defibrillator however I have been informed that I would be put on

Human Betaretrovirus and PBC - can antiretrovirals fix us?
Hello all What do people think please about the research on PBC as an infectious disease and the potential of antiretroviral drugs? There was a flurry of reports back in 2015/6 identifying persistent betaretrovirus in people with PBC and then some small clinical trials of antiretroviral drugs.

Current heart status
Just a little up date. Went and saw my cardiologist on Thursday. And there was a few positives. Which I need to except in my head. My appointment started with with usual blood pressure check and oxygen stat check. And weight. But I suppose I was still wondering why they wanted an echo which I did not
