I hope no one minds me sharing but after my last (hopefully) chemo on the 3 Nov I was getting really concerned that my hair wasn’t coming back. I spoke to a dermatologist who told me 2% of women who have Taxol (or derivatives of) don’t get their hair back for ages or in lesser cases never. I got very

Life in hospital over Christmas
Here I am writing from my hospital bed, where I have been since 21st December, having missed all the Xmas festivities. They are waiting for my temp to remain stable for 48 hours before I can go home. If any of you remember I started the OCTOPUS trial in September which includes weekly Taxol plus trial

Desensitising failed.
Went in today. Had pre meds night before and some before the desensitisation. Was done over four bags. First two bags were ok. They contained 8 and 9 gms/ mgs ( not sure which) then third bag was 80 gms/ mgs. I started to go very red all over and was itchy. Eyes felt swollen. My chest felt tight. They

Pretty happy today
Just finished 18 weeks of weekly taxol at Christie's where you get to ring a bell so everyone can hear ... Back early January for a scan and follow up and hoping that outcome matches up to feeling that this treatment overall has worked for me - 👍🏻💓🤞🏻. it's been quite an intensive time, which

I was diagnosed with stage 3C OV in Feb. 2017. Had 13 hrs. of debunking surgery including complete historectomy, half of my colon, and my spleen at Hopkins and 3 and half months of IPec (chemo directly into the abdomen) Taxol, and carboplatnin (excuse the spelling). I am in remission for the OC, but

Re - do Ablation for 2018
Sort of knew this was coming ! I had Cryoablation in Feb this year ( for vagal AF) thought all was settling as the months were progressing until last 3 months when symptoms began reappearing more noticeably. Have had a brief trial of Sotalol in last couple of weeks which really didn't suit me making

Word in the street - which could be better for low grade Caelyx or weekly taxol
Hi I’m being screened for LOGS. My original tumour was NF1 positive so it suggests a MEK inhibitor response. My question, if I get the control arm, do I go for: weekly taxol - I only got a slight response with taxol/ carbo and recurred within e-6 months after finishing treatment. But this will be weekly

To ablate, or not to ablate, that is the question....
Four years on from a successful first ablation for PAF at age 65, now in AF/AFL roughly half the time, day and night. I used to be very anxious about episodes, but no longer am. The main symptom for me is feeling tired. I'm not sure whether reduced exercise capacity on the treadmill or rowing machine

Sotalol and follow up to my previous post
I have been on Sotalol 80mg, one table twice daily for a week now since my kidney robotics surgery and am not happy with the side effects I am getting. I am woken up in the early hours with a cold sweat and look as though I have been drenched with water. Also about an hour after taking my first table

Rhythm control drugs after ablation
I am going to see an EP and I am looking here not for advice, more to tap into other people's experience. So, one ablation for vagal PAF. Worked well until recently, now intermittent atrial flutter, despite increasing dose of Sotalol (which I have taken for 6 years) Flecainide PIP was the first rhythm

Horrible carbo reaction.
Hi lovely ladies. Hoping you are all ok and keeping strong. On Thursday I had my third cycle/ second line of taxol and carbo. All was fine till the carbo went in. After ten minutes or so I felt awful. Very light headed, I was violently sick, boiling hot then freezing cold. My eyes swelled up and my

Not what I expected !
I've just had a 5 day loop ECG - the cardiac nurse e.mailed to say it showed episodes of persistent AF ! I had a Cryoablation in Feb this year. The consultant wants me to change from Bisoporol 1.25 mg ( been on this for 4 weeks ) to Sotalol ( don't know the dose as waiting for phone call from cardiology

Heart problems after major surgery
I had robotic pyeloplasty surgery last Thursday for a PUJ blockage of my left kidney. They programmed my pacemaker before surgery into a ‘safe mode’ and then back to my personal settings afterwards. Felt awful after surgery but expected this. However on Saturday went into a very fast heart rate which

Some news that has rocked my boat a little today.
Hi there sisters. I'm afraid this is going to be a long and boring post but I hope you can get to the end for me please. I'm usually a half full kinda girl with a good sense of humour but this week has been really difficult. Had the onset of a lot of pain in pelvis and lower back, plus a new lymph

Skipping Beats
So my Afib seems to be under control under my current medication which is Sotalol. But what seems to be happening lately is my heart will skip beats. Happens for hours and then stops on its own. Totally normal rate at around 70bpm but skips beats occasionally. Doesn’t really stop me from doing anything

Wee 1 trial anyone?
Hello ladies. Sorry I haven’t been here lately. Been hunkered down. Sadly the hope I had for the parp inhibitor was short lived. I was on Rubraca for a bit less than 3 months. Had one nice drop in CA 125 but that number rose the following month along with an onslaught of symptoms and the big ascites
