COPD research in Derbyshire
I’ve been approached by a postgraduate research student, Karen, at Keele University. She is doing a research project into the ways in which men in semi-rural towns, aged 55 and over, look after themselves when they are diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The study will take

Speaking of the devil...(the flu )
About 2 days after my post "Do colds and flu seem worse if you have PD?", I started getting a sore throat for the first time about 6 months. I took my usual actions (constantly sip hot fluids, massive vit A and D, and zicam) and it was not a problem and after a few days it was gone. However, it did

Chronic wrist pain after surgery.
Hi guys. So I've just found the site and thought I'd say hi. I'm Dan a 31yr old male. Let me tell you my story. Almost 12 years ago now I dislocated and broke my wrist in a sporting accident whilst in the army. I then spent the next 2 years with it hurting and after a few scans and exploratory surgery

Hi All I've been pretty much bedridden for the last 14 months now & am perhaps at my lowest ebb. No energy whatsoever (exhaustion/fatigue). I'm either permanently sweating or freezing cold to the point of uncontrollable shivering under a duvet with an electric blanket on. If asleep, this shivering

Nerve entrapment
Hi my name is Heidi, I have had right hand side chronic pelvic pain for 5 years now, since the day after hysterectomy surgery! It took 2 years to get a diagnosis as the surgeon refused to acknowledge there was anything wrong and told me I must have fallen and sprained my hip! It has been nothing short

Here we go again??
I'm trying not to think what I called this post - I'm trying very hard to stay with what I know and not leap into 'what ifs' Most of you know the multiple and very complex surgeries I've had and the progression of my spinal issues. If you don't, and you're interested enough they're on my profile. So

Introducing myself
I'll try and keep this short......in May 2012 I was under a huge amount of stress in my job and developed dreadful pain in my shoulders and upper arms - three days in I couldn't dress myself. Long story short my osteopath diagnosed PMR and of course my GP tested for everything else but that. In desperation

Spinal Fusion Surgery
I am a 78 year old female with fractures of T-12 L1,2,3,4. I also have severe Osteoporosis, degenerative disc. Fracture was 2 years ago with no healing. Surgery is recommended. What are your suggestions. I really don't want to do this, but am open to other observations.

Confused?
Ok, so about two months ago I started to get a sore throat. Then I had a full blown cold for about a week. After a while my cough, sore throat and headaches went but the congestion stayed... Now I've started getting a sore throat and feeling the same again and I'm not sure if they are related or am I

COLD SORES.
I am having a real run of cold sores. Is there anyone else out there having the same problem? How serious are cold sores? What should I be doing to help myself? I have been taking Lysine and have cream to put on them but not sure this is helping much. I'm sick of having unkissable lips!!!!!

Goody...!
Susie has given me another kitten! We took Eilis in this afternoon 'cos she had one of her nails growing into the pad of her paw...Susie cut it off and gave her a shot of anti-biotics...it's horribly swollen and oozing pus. Was fine first thing this morning...amazing how quickly it turned nasty. Anyway

Does anyone else take fish oils?
I always used to take Cod Liver Oil to help with arthritis, but stopped it when I was put on the Verapamil/Digoxin/Warfarin medication, tho' I can't remember whether that was because it was contra-indicated, or because I wanted to cut down on all the pills, I also take Celebrex and Ranitidine. Cold sores
Hi all! I am currently treating my RD with Enbrel and Sulfasalazine. It is mostly under good control. In the last few months I have had a couple of cold sores. I get them occasionally anyway but never this often. Is this common with RD meds? How can I treat/control the outbreaks? Please share your tips
