Smokers.
The subject of smoking & PCa tends not to come up, but I imagine that many men my age (70) or older are ex- or current smokers. I am using the appearance of a new study as an excuse to write about cadmium, zinc & selenium. In 2015, an Italian-U.S. meta-analysis [1] led by Dr. Stephen Freedland reported

Need help
I’m a little lost as to what is good and not good to eat with cholesterol. I have read plenty internet post but all they seem to do is contradict themselves. My husband is being a trooper and also wants to cut back on his sodium so if anyone has any bits of awesome secrets that would be great.

New results. Dose adjustment? Reason for macrocytosis?
Hi Everyone, My husband would really appreciate any wisdom on his latest results. He's been on NDT for the last seven months, gradually increasing the dose. Currently on 1.5 Thyrogold a day. I think this makes 75ug of T4 plus 19ug of T3. He was on Naturethroid but problems with supply and then a new

Advice gratefully appreciated!
Hi everyone, I posted a few weeks ago about my ongoing battle to get to the root cause of my many symptoms and issues. Just over 2 years ago I was supremely fit, running, strength training, easily hiking 20+ miles every weekend without so much as an achy muscle. Then May 2016 my feet started burning

Any runners out there with IBS?......
Hi- I’ve been having problems when running and was wondering if any one else has managed to overcome this problem...... I suffer from IBS but it’s usually manageable with medication But- every time for the last half dozen or so runs I’ve done, whether morning or evening, I have to stop for a toilet break

Risodronate Sodium
I had a terrible response to Allendronic Acid - thought my oesophagus was burnt out. I was booked for an intravenous infusion but cancelled the appointment after reading some horror stories. I saw my rheumy on Monday. She insisted that, as I already have osteoporosis and I'm on a relatively high dose

Recipes from our Group!
A while back, we tried to gather recipes from our MS members and received a few good ones. But only a few. I'm bad, I have recipes, it's just been a tough spring and never got one entered. This will be lengthy, but it's the only way we can publish what we gathered. Please feel free to try them and

Can I increase T3?
Hello, I'd be really grateful if those of you who understand blood results could take a look at my recent results attached and advise if I have any scope for increasing T3. I am on 75mcg Levo and 5mcg Liothyronine per day. I have put on 10lb in weight over the last year, have a lot of aches and pains

First (and possibly last) HM Race Report
I read pinkaardvark's post over on the Bridge to 10k forum with amusement and awe last week where his HM was described as "An unexpected and unplanned HM...". Mine was planned and scheduled to within an inch of its life! Here is a write up of my first HM experience. Sorry if it's a bit rambling. After

Sodium and Potassium management
My father 78, who is diabetic for almost 40 years now, has suddenly developed sodium and potassium issues. He had kidney problems (not under dialyses) and heart issues but BS was stable with insulin. With an infection, almost suddenly toppled him down, now with pulmonary edema, the worst thing is now

Any success with the Keto Diet for IBS?
In a bid to lose some weight and battle the bloating feeling I've been getting on a daily basis, I thought I'd give the Keto Diet a go. I have previously completed the FODMAP elimination and reintroduction diet under the direction of a clinical dietician, so have identified my main trigger foods as being

I'm on a low sodium diet but I must get protein etc to maintain my weight. I've lost 7 stone over the years. I see there seafood is recommended as a source of protein and as I love shell fish I thought I'd try moules marinere at a local cafe here in Plymouth. Oh boy did I suffer last night, appalling
