I use it off and on as a sleep aid before bed. I never take it close to meals so as not to neutralize stomach acid needed for digestion. BS is one I always keep on hand for many uses. Mixing some in a little water to make a paste can be used as a "drawing agent" to help draw out the offending agents from different insect bites if applied quickly after being bitten. I also use it in my apple cider vinegar to neutralize the acid and help protect the tooth enamel from that acid. It also helps to preserve our natural bicarbonate stores in the body.
It has a lot of sodium (NaHCO3) so probably not ok to take a tsp if you are on a low sodium diet.
Doesn’t adding it to cider vinegar defeat the purpose of both? They would both be neutralised to give sodium acetate and water and carbon dioxide. Or is there something else useful in them?
