Flu Jab Text
Hubby was sent a text which recommends the flu jab. It has a long link for further reading which looks to me like a twitter link - and as his phone isn't a smart phone (he is BLIND!), what exactly is he supposed to do?

I became ill with 2 months of having the
shingles
vaccine
. I have always been healthy til then. I am coming up 65. Was never advised of the side effects. Has ruined my life. I would be interested to know the experiences of others in my position.

TMEP & Flu Vaccination
Hi there, I have just been diagnosed with TMEP and am looking to get a flu vaccination this year. I don’t qualify for vaccination under the NHS. Last year I had it done at Tesco Pharmacy and had a large allergic reaction. I wondered if anyone else with a mast cell condition had a similar reaction

Hydroxyurea ( Hydrea) and vaccine safety
Hello , I am 60 years old and jak 2 positive PV . I am on aspirin and Hydrea . My doc wants me to take vaccine for swine flu, hepatitis B and pneumococcus - has anyone taken vaccines while on Hydrea ? Is it safe - considering hydrea is essentially tuning down the immune system?

Slowing down a 'helper' cell may someday make vaccines more effective for seniors.
Many people have understood that our immune systems get weaker as we age, which in part explains why older people often get less protection than younger ones from annual influenza vaccines. Now a team of scientists led by experts at Cincinnati Children's have taken a deeper look at how the immune system

Time gap between Pneumonia & Influenza vaccines and Denosumab Injection. Is Denosumab & Zoledronic acid do harm to dental implantation.
Can my mother take Pneumonia vaccine (Pneumovax 23) and Influenza vaccine (Influgen 0.5 ml) seven days before taking Denosumab (Olimab - product of India) injection. She is taking this injection twice in a year i.e on 1st March and 1st September every year. My second question is should my mother go

Flu jabs
I'm trying to find out about the interactions between those who are immuno-suppressed and recipients of of live flu jabs. Is there a time limit on contact? I'm planning to get one - though I haven't in previous years - and my grandson, going into Year 7 will presumably get one at school. I've seen

Flu Vaccine
Hi all, I’ve seen the (UK) government have expanded their flu vaccine programme for this coming winter. I was wondering if having an MPN would put me in an eligible household. Can I ask if other group members receive/intend to receive the vaccination? Thanks in advance 🙂

Flu Vaccination
Has the coronavirus pandemic made you more likely to get the flu vaccine later this year? It might be July but we’re already beginning to think about this year’s flu vaccination programme. You may be wondering if the flu vaccine will still be important for people with asthma this year and the answer

How on Earth will they manage Flu injections in the UK?
Discussed this with a few people recently. The flu jab programme in surgeries has been a cause of much irritation over the last few years. Some practices have sessions where you just turn up, others have allocated times for people depending on your surname. My surgery has tried both with varying degrees

Is there any updated advice regarding Covid-19 for Lymphoedema patients?
Hi I just wondered if there was any updated medical advice for Lymphoedema patients? Now restrictions are easing up I’m finding that I am unsure what advice I should be following. Initially it was easy as anyone who received the flu jab was vulnerable, anyone who got a letter was extremely vulnerable

Going for a Walk
Hi all, Basically querying about going for walks. Although I received the shielding letter, my consultant confirmed it was only because I get the flu jab and everyone in Wales who has will get the letter regardless. I fall into the 2nd category on BSR, as only on methotrexate injections 12.5mg (I haven't

‘Flu vaccine
I rang my GP to ask if I should get the ‘flu jab - and get a script for it as I do every year - this year because of my recently diagnosed PMF I qualify for free vaccine! Part of me still rebels being labelled as having a ‘chronic illness’ or having ‘reduced immunity’ - part of me says ‘Thanks very much

About live shingles shot
I have been reading all about the problems with the live
shingles
vaccine
shot. I had the live shot and three months or so later I was diagnosed with PMR. No one told me about that being a side effect. I have had pmr for over 3 years and can't get below 12mg.

The vaccine we’re testing in Australia is based on a flu shot. Here’s how it could work against coronavirus.
A new trial has begun in Victoria this week to evaluate a potential vaccine against COVID-19. The vaccine is called NVX-CoV2373 and is from a US biotech company, Novavax. The trial will be carried out across Melbourne and Brisbane, and is the first human trial of a vaccine specifically for COVID-19

Shingles vaccine and asthma
I am the age where you are invited to have the
shingles
vaccine
, and I need to decide soon, as the offer is time limited. It is clear from what I have read that you should not take it if you are on oral steroids, but it suggests that inhaled steroids are fine. Has anyone had this and how was it?
