Flu Vaccine

Hi all,

I’ve seen the (UK) government have expanded their flu vaccine programme for this coming winter.

I was wondering if having an MPN would put me in an eligible household.

Can I ask if other group members receive/intend to receive the vaccination?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Rae25,

You are eligible for the flu vaccine if you have an mpn. I have one every year.

My doctor started me on it when I was diagnosed with Myelofibrosis aged 57, before my SCT. I have had it every year since.

Hi there. As Piggie50 says anyone with an MPN is eligible for the free vaccine (available through pharmacists as well as GPs etc). You just tick the ‘cancer’ box on the form.

Who knows what will happen this year given the government’s latest announcement. Chaos? There were enough problems accessing the Under 65 vaccine last year.

As everyone else is saying, yes you are eligible. I had it last Christmas when I still had ET; I now have MF and am on Peg and will get it again. It's a deactivated vaccine, so you won't get any after-effects from having it which gave it a big thumbs-up from me as I've had annoying reactions to vaccines in the past.
