Dealing with ICU
I live with two constant reminders of this experience in the form of two large
scars
on my neck. Although they have become less red and prominent over time people still look and ask about them.

Adhesions spoiling my life
Following 2 caesarian deliveries 30 years ago, a fall down the stairs and lifting heavy furniture I have suffered intermittent pain from adhesions for the last 5 years and it now rules my life. The doctors at my surgery don't seem to know anything about adhesions and they don't show up on ultrasound

Better consenting for thyroidectomy: who has an increased risk of postoperative hypocalcaemia?
How very right it is that patients should be assessed as well as possible, and that consent should be properly detailed and accurate. The possibility of reducing further the risks is definitely a laudable aim. [i]Eur Arch Otorhinolaryngol. 2016 Dec;273(12):4437-4443. Epub 2016 May 20.

Controlling pain while exercising with endo ?
My op
scars
still hurt and pull when I'm exercising, only holding them seems to help. I am thinking maybe some kind of compression garment might help.

BCC back again
Last September I had BCC rodent ulcer removed from my knee. I have noticed that what I thought was only a spot on my nose, might actually be a BCC again. It doesn't heal over completely. I have a feeling that it's another BCC. Because of the location (on my nose) I'm reluctant to get it removed. I scar

Laparoscopy Surgery
Hi all, A date for my operation has finally come through to help with my End. The date of the op is 20 days before I am due to go on holiday abroad and I wanted to try and get feedback from anyone who may have travelled after their op and also how they managed on holiday with doing normal holiday things

Red Pigmentation Spots & Scarring
However, I've been left with flat, red pigmentation marks/
scars
where the cysts used to be, all over my cheeks. Is there anything that i can get from my GP or over the counter that could help fade these marks without causing more acne to develop? Any advice is greatly appreciated :)

My scars
I have
scars
that I see daily, learning how to accept having them and not being ashamed has took me so long. When I look at my
scars
It reminds me of the dark place I ended up, and then I begin to feel good that I’ve managed to fight my way out and stay strong.

Finding The Balance Point
I got used to not having hair, to the metallic taste in my mouth, to the sore muscles, to the
scars
and even to the absence of body parts. I got used to it because I understood that this was the price I would have to pay in order to reach my goal; my ultimate goal; to be healthy.

Off of Flecainide and Metoprolol just 1 month after ablation
I think that doctors can be good and trained well - I couldn't even see the two
scars
in the groin after two days. However, there is something BIG missing. Mental state of patient is as important and proper preparation for what might come does not exist.

Lots of problems - all connected I'm sure!
It is months before they go and leaves
scars
and then more appear. This was all triggered by a great deal of stress and much trauma along with the EB virus. Has anyone else this type of skin condition along with gut problems. ? Thanks Dillydoo

PF, IPF and ILD - excellent new patient guide available
One of worst things about having IPF or PF is the complete lack of a good article explaining the disease and the various terms used (types of ILD, tests etc). Below are some links to an excellent new patients guide produced by the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation (pulmonary fibrosis news website) that

Mum saw my scars
My mum knows I suffer from panic attacks but she had no idea I was 'unhappy'. Where my parents are from, if you can't see something, then it doesn't exist.. I.e mental illness. This is why I just couldn't bring myself to say anything to her or my dad. I thought they'd just disregard it or try and get
