Thyroidectomy for Graves Disease
I’ve learned so much about Grave’s disease and TED here. This popped up on Medscape today: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/1001236? Know Your Options: Thyroidectomy for Graves Disease. It’s lengthy, and a pretty good discussion of options, including their frustration that they are only treating

Block & Replace refusal
just thought id give a little update on my abysmal journey through thyroid land The GP - having not acknowledged the concerns originally raised (you may remember I was suffering quite a bit with depression and various symptoms) marked my thyroid results as "no further action" to which I've received

anyone help with article that states that it is not alright to prescribe different doses of Liothyronine on alternate days?
I am on T3 and Levo 75mcg. but I feel hypo since I was taken off 10mcg T3 daily and put onto T3 at 10mcg /5mcg on alternate days Has anyone a reference regarding this unorthodox prescribing of T3 in split different doses I can send to him to support my case against this splitting of the T3 like

Please can you help me with these levels? Rai booked imminently.
Hi, I have rai booked imminently & want to know for sure if my levels warrant it - TSH - <0.01 T3 - 8 T4 - 16 I’ve been told it was toxic nodules, now 2 years later told by a different consultant it’s graves? The consultant secretary said they mean the same thing when overactive? Is this correct?

Re Blood tests
I am under the care of nuclear team as having RAI treatment after papillary cancer n Thyroidectomy. I read various posts here and am now mystified and concerned. The nuclear team and thyroid oncologist made it 100% clear , that prior to ANY blood tests, if one is taking thyroxine, it is ESSENTIAL to

Blood test timing when insulin dependent
I have been underactive ever since RAI over thirty years ago. Unfortunately, due to poor management of thyroxine dosage (consultant didn't know what he was doing and left me to GP) I gained a lot of weight which just wouldn't shift. So I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and was prescribed Metformin

A recent consultation with a CLL specialist, and confirmation of genetic markers
My wife had an appointment with CLL specialist Dr. C. Chen yesterday. We also performed other blood tests. I had a pleasant consultation with Dr. Chen. I was perplexed because of the TP53 mutation, whether it was discovered or not. I posted an earlier post that she has a TP53 mutation. I am sorry for

Beatsons Glasgow RAI
Sorry, reposting due to stupid autocorrect! Have had total thyroidectomy and removal of lymph glands. Now waiting for appointment for RAI at Beatsons, Glasgow. Can anyone tell me what to expect and what it's like staying as RAI patient in Beatsons?

need ammunition to stop Endo reducing my T3
Hello, this is my second post concerning the fact that my Consultant's Registrar wants to lower my T3 from 10mg but keep me on 54 mcg of Levo as my TSH is supressed. I have no thyroid after it was destroyed with RAI.However his Registrar was abrupt, merely telling me that my T3 must be reduced because

Perplexing results. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts?
I was wondering if any one had any thoughts on my results I’m 14 years post RAI and have been on levothyroxine for 8 years and I seem to be very sensitive to dose change. I don’t have thyroid antibodies just a toxic adenoma. They run my T4 higher around 19- 22 for conversion for T3, my consultant

Graves disease Auto Immune Diet
Hello again. All has settled with tablets. Thyroid levels are normal again, so my Carbimazole dose has been reduced by half to 5 mg per day. I just wondered if anyone had tried any Thyroid diet plans with success. Not necessarily to lose weight, though I've put nearly a stone on with ATD but more

combined therapy help
Hi a little advise if possible: normally levo 125mg and thybon 5mg. A new endo has taken me off thybon to try and work out if I have diabetes inspidius (water balance issues). I think I was slightly too hyper but 3 weeks later and I feel terrible - weight gain, constipation, no apetite. I don’t think

Devastated
I went to my first three month blood test today. I am at Rai 0. I feel great. My WBC and Lymphocytes doubled in 3 months. I am starting V and O on Monday. I am pissed and scared. I had 3 months on Wait and Watch. Chronic was supposed to mean 3 years or 10 years before treatment. My wife and I are driving

long term carbimazole
I currently take 5mg Carbimazole alternate days. I have toxic nodules so stopping meds is not an option. Like many people on here I have been pushed towards RAI or surgery TT. Every time I feel I get near to a decision I learn something new! I am interested in what people have been told about staying

Carbimazole and severe bloating
I've been taking carbimazole now for 3 weeks but have been having extreme painful bloating in my abdomen. Not feeling sick and bowel movements are normal if not less regular. I cancelled my appointment for RAI to opt to try tablets first but this tummy ache is debilitating. Do side effects wear off
