long term carbimazole

I currently take 5mg Carbimazole alternate days. I have toxic nodules so stopping meds is not an option. Like many people on here I have been pushed towards RAI or surgery TT. Every time I feel I get near to a decision I learn something new! I am interested in what people have been told about staying on Carbimazole long term rather than definitive treatment. Many thanks.

I had RAI some 15 years ago and felt so much better once my thyroxine dose was sorted out. It took weeks for my body to react and then a few months to get the thyroxine level correct. Felt so much better than on carbimazole and it has been stable since then until just recently.

I was hyper on and off for 30 odd years, partial op then on and off Carbimazole, got to the point where my heart was being effected by the ups and downs and getting dose of Carb right was nigh on impossible, I also tried block and replace which didn’t work, so I opted for RAI and what a relief it was, wish I had done it earlier. I’m left with several heart problems which could have been caused by long term Graves or Carbimazole.
