Two Days Post Robot Prostatectomy
Hello friends, My 3 hour surgery was completed on Thursday morning without any complications or surprises. The docs, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center were first class. My wife had to drive me home in rush hour Philadelphia traffic on Friday afternoon. I had a catheter

Novel methods for mapping the cavernous nerves during radical prostatectomy.
The article below was published four years ago. Has there been progress in technologies to definitively assess whether nerves have been "spared" and "healing" is taking place following a prostatectomy? https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26256860

Two weeks post RP
Today marks two weeks post prostatectomy. I have my first follow up appointment tomorrow where the doc will remove my Foley. The first few days were rough. There was significant pain, but the opiates helped a lot. Five days went by before the first bowel movement, which was awkward and a bit painful

Anyone using medical cannabis to treat stage 5 symptoms?
I have PKD, diagnosed 10 yrs ago, I am 47 and have been vaping medical weed for 2 years to help with my nausea, appetite, pain and sleep. I hated the side effects of chemicals and find it helps me. I am from canada so its nice it is more widely accepted now, but I still feel like a bit of a pothead some

Advice for men who are about to start hormone treatment for metastatic prostate cancer?
I'm writing to request advice about what tests you would recommend I should get before and during hormone treatment, which I probably will begin sometime in the near future. The treatment will probably begin with Casodex and then add Lupron. I have an appointment early Wednesday morning with my urological

Sural Nerve Graft post RP to fix Erectile Dysfunction
Hi guys, I’ve been researching nerve grafting for Erectile dysfunction post
radical
prostatectomy
. I just miss the good old days of spontaneity and the Tri-mix injections are...well...just not spontaneous. Do any of you have experience with this procedure?

Oddly enough, we have arrived back at immunotherapy very gratefully. We got the call early in the morning Tuesday; that instead of the chemotherapy Temodar, we would try Keytruda for the last time. Almost three years in with oligometastatic PCa. Guidance welcome --- are we doing all we should?
Hi All, As usual, I'm having trouble breathing in the days leading up to the next doc appointment and PSA test. Questions that run through my mind: - Are we doing everything we should at this point? - Would a prostatectomy prolong life? At a higher quality than he'd have otherwise? (husband is reluctant

Ratio of periprostatic to subcutaneous fat thickness on MRI is an independent survival predictor in hormone-naïve men with advanced PCa
Although the link between elevated BMI and increased risk of prostate cancer is still controversial (11, 12, 13), several studies have found a positive association between BMI and cancer grade and/or stage at the time of
radical
prostatectomy
(14, 15, 16).

Urinary Retention after Prostatectomy
Has anyone experienced urethral scarring or inflammation following catheterization after prostate removal surgery? I had robot assisted prostatectomy this past summer with severe urinary blockage following removal of catheter one week from surgery date. Ended up in emergency room and was re-catheterized

Algaecal advice please
Hi I am hoping to change my calcium supplement from adcal - D3 (prescribed by endo) to Algaecal. My osteoporosis is getting much worse and I have been taking Adcal for many years. Due to emerging heart problems have been researching many health issues attributed to thyroid disease particularly hyperthyroidism

AMS 800 Urinary Sphincter
My
radical
prostatectomy
was in March 2017; in August 2018 I had an AMS 800 urinary sphincter implanted. When I recovered from the implantation I was left with a tiny sore spot on the surface of my scrotum. All three of my urologists are mystified, since the sore spot isn't where the work was done.
