Hello all,

Wishes and prayers with all going through this journey. My profile has has full treatment in detail of my father. Post chemo, salvage radiation, prostatectomy and currently on 4 tabs enzalutamide daily, zoledronic 3 monthly, eligard 6 monthly. The PSA seems to be rising <.01, .01,.013,.02 and now .03 in consecutive months. Doctor has asked to monitor another two months and then go for psma pet scan. Is waiting ok or any other suggestions for similar experience?

Thanks

Your father's PSA is still low so don't panic. The 3 consecutive rises is a concern. But waiting 2 months is not a big deal.

Consider adding Celebrex - the combination of Celebrex and zoledronic acid increased survival by 22% in metastatic men. I assume he was prescribed Zometa because he had osteoporosis.

You're asking if waiting for PET scan is OK? I think that getting a PET scan while his PSA is so low is a waste of money.

Thanks Tall_Allen , he was started on zoledronic since diagnosis as cancer had also gone to pelvic bone. I will check regarding celebrex with doctor. We will wait for Pet scan for another 2 months then.

Hello , just to update . We did PET scan this week and it was indeed clear, no sign of disease. Doctor has told enzalutamide and zoledronic acid will continue as before. We will keep monitoring the PSA. At what level of PSA, do you suggest that next scan could be helpful?

Not before PSA reaches 2. And you don't need a PET scan - a bone scan/CT will suffice. But since you don't mind wasting money, there is no harm.
