buprenorphine patch - any advice?
Hello, my GP has agreed to prescribe me the buprenorphine patch 5mg starting from Monday. He will not prescribe tablets at this point - he feels the patch will give me better coverage for both the pain in my joints and also my chronic restless legs and will counter the continual withdrawal type issues

Post-Salvage Radiation GI side effects?
I'm seeking insights on what others may have experienced after salvage radiation therapy when it comes to their gastrointestinal functions. By way of background, I had a robotic prostatectomy in 2011 and it failed. Last summer I had 35 salvage radiation sessions to the prostate bed only, ending on 27

Radium 223 and (AdcalD3) calcium supplements
Hi I was hoping for some clarity here as I've been getting different advice in the UK. I think the advice is to keep off the calcium supplements 7 days before a Ra 223 injection and then return to the tablets a few days after. Similarly my Zometa (Zoledronic Acid )injection should be timed so it

Estrogen Receptors
New study below [1]. At the time I was diagnosed (2004), there was enough research on the 'new' estrogen receptor [ERbeta], to cause concern. At diagnosis, ERbeta has generally become downregulated. In contrast, ERalpha, which is otherwise restricted to stromal cells, starts to appear in PCa (epithelial

For those on Lupron experiencing fatigue…
I have been on intermittent Lupron for over ten years after biological reoccurrence after robotic prostatectomy. Fortunately it has worked well to keep my psa in check but fatigue and general loss of stamina has kept me from engaging in many physical activities I used to enjoy. FORTUNATELY I have been

Further treatment - Update
I had biopsy 03.09.07 (Gleason score 3+7) and prostatectomy 10.11.07. PSA started to rise soon after. Since then I have had radiation and been more or less on Zoladex injections the whole time. I started Xtandi in April 2019 and switched to Nubeqa December 2021. The PSA started to rise in fall 2021

GP has prescribed Alendronic Acid 70mg
Hi all My Dad’s GP has prescribed Alendronic Acid 70mg tablets without explaining why. My Dad is now on Adcal -D3 1x daily, 9mg Prednisolone daily and 1x weekly Alendronic Acid. Is it normal to be prescribed Alendronic Acid? Also, how far apart should this be taken from Pred? Thanks Lindsay

PSA Doubling Time
I suspect there are many ways to calculate PSA ‘doubling time’ but I seem to have a bit of a head scratcher. Have had a prostatectomy, radiation, Zolodex and finished 8 months of degarelix end of Aug. By 25 Oct my PSA was 0.44. On 15 Dec it was 1.99 and 18 days later on 03 Jan it was 2.84. By my Oncologist

Good news to share!
After
radical
prostatectomy
, chemo clinical trial, and radiation during 2001-2002, I watched my psa do its long slow climb. I began Lupron injections about five years ago. The number dropped to about 0.84, then began another long slow climb.

Difficult decision before a robot assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy planned for March
PSA 3.4. Gleason 7. MRI and biopsy diagnosed prostate carcinoma left lobe. In December 22 a PET/CT (238MBq F-18 PSMA) found moderate grade uptake involving the left peripheral zone of my prostate gland consistent with the known carcinoma and lower grade uptake involving the right lobe of my prostate

Older vs Younger
i get people in their 70’s telling me at 49 that i did the right thing in having my prostate removed. My quality of life is zero. I found out my Urologist lied to me. Doing the prostatectomy is about the worst mistake of my life. If the surgery is not necessary, do not do it

Medical Marijuana- for Anxiety/sleep?
I have certified to get Medical Marijuana for anxiety and sleep, my doctor and the doctor who certified me said they have lots of good results with it for anxiety and sleep. I have not gotten my card yet so I am waiting , then I can buy it. Wanted to know if anyone has used it and what were the results

considering Treatment Options
My urologist and oncologist have laid out what they present as 3 equally viable options,
radical
prostatectomy
, radiation (external or seed) and active monitoring. They have told me that my case is a low to moderate risk case.

should I be worried?
looking for some insite as to what I should expect going forward given the state of my condition. Had prostatectomy in 2019. Gleason 4+3. PSA before operation was 3.4. Remained undetectable for 4 months, then rise to 1.9 over 4 months. PSMA scan detected one lymph node in pelvis. Went for 40 rounds
