1. DON’T SMOKE! 2. Remember the rule of N.O.P.E! Not One Puff Ever! 3. Ask people you live with not to smoke around you. Spend time with non-smokers. 4. Keep busy, stay active – try walking, exercising or doing other activities. 5. Drink lots of water. 6. Begin using the nicotine replacement

Daily Laughter Friday
I finally
quit
smoking
by using the patch. I put six of them over my mouth. No sense being pessimistic, it probably wouldn't work anyway. Since I've taken the job in The Everglades I've been swamped! The crusty, ill-tempered baker was a scone's throw from becoming toast.

You're giving children the idea that
smoking
is OK by your example. If you're trying to
quit
, let children know about it and tell them why. If you're not trying to quit, how about starting now?

Nicotine withdrawal symptoms can lead quitters back to
smoking
When smokers try to cut back or
quit
, the lack of nicotine leads to withdrawal symptoms. Withdrawal is both physical and mental. Physically, the body reacts to the absence of nicotine.

Will it get worse before it gets better?
So I tried to
quit
smoking
yesterday and lasted all of a few hours. I was totally unprepared for the attack of cravings and gave in just to get myself through the day. Today I've been doing much better.

I WISH !
It's been three days I'm starting to feel weak I'm trying to kick the habit But I'm not doing too well As I frantically search the house That's becoming my own hell Just one drag is all I ask That will help me through If I don't find a cigarette I don't know what I'll do I want to

First time poster, need help!
I smoked between 10 and 40 a day for a year and a half, it's nearly three years ago I
quit
now, and before
smoking
I was super fit, never had any issues breathing at all, I could run ten miles and swim long distance etc.

AVOIDING ALCHOHOL AND SMOKING TIPS
Can you explain that you've recently
quit
smoking
and ask them to refrain? If not, excuse yourself for a few minutes and go to the bathroom or step outside for some fresh air. When cravings to smoke hit, the key is to quickly change your focus.

Re-visit your reasons for wanting to
quit
smoking
in the first place and remember that it is you who is in control of your decisions and the choices you make :-) If you are feeling low in any way, let us know and we can work through it together.

HAVE YOU GOT A PET?
The life you save may be your pet's! There's always been lots of information about second hand smoke and people but did you know there is considerable research proving secondhand smoke is harmful for pets too? Think about this everytime you light up in your house with Fido on your lap, or when you're

When you first try and
quit
smoking
, it can be a bit of a roller coaster ride. One minute your elated and feel great, next minute you feel on edge and irritable and think "is it worth it?" IS IT WORTH IT? the answer is simply yes.

Stopping smoking and feeling depressed.
Depression is an issue of focus for many who
quit
smoking
. At times, quitting smoking is an extremely difficult thing to do, and it is difficult enough when you're feeling happy.
