My Journey With PACs, PVCs and SVT: How I Cured My Heart Palpitations
Hello all, I hope this doesn't fall under "commercial use of the site". This is certainly not a cash grab, but hoping I could help people who are in a similar situation as me, I wrote a short book about my experiences with various types of arrhythmia. Like many people I spent years scouring the internet

Ongoing Checks for people with Cirrhosis
Hi My Mum has just been diagnosed with cirrhosis (Stage 2) but all the tests to determine the cause of it have proved inconclusive. The Doctor at Kettering General Hospital just wants to see her for a review in 6 months time - which seems like a long time away! I was wondering what ongoing checks

Look up pictures of bier spots or palmar erythema.
Especially if your a heavy drinker, they can both be benign, but are also very common in correlation to advanced liver problems, and will typically come and go. Triggers are typically when it's hot, or when your walking rather than laying etc.

Statins causing Cirrhosis?
Has anybody got any experience of statins causing their cirrhosis? My Mum has just been diagnosed with cirrhosis and the doctor cannot easily detect the cause from the blood tests and CT scan (and ultrasound) that she has. She is only a very light alcoholic drinker and doesn't take aspirin. She has

Testicular Atrophy in Cirrhosis
Has anyone experienced this with alcoholic cirrhosis? I have not been diagnosed with cirrhosis however my testicles have atrophied, I have no sex drive, definitely have developed breasts, and have erectile dysfunction. I've seen a hepatologist and had all diagnostic testing done short of a biopsy come

Blood in urine
Hi all, I am 60 this month, I went for a check up with the nurse as I was a new patient. On the dip stick test, she said there was blood in my urine, and that it is most likely a UTI infection? She asked me about discomfort or pain or about me not feeling well, I told her I feel the same as always, that

Advice after all else is failing
My brother has cirrhosis and has been having tranfusions due to low platelets for the past year and this has kept him out of hospital. Suddenly the transfusions are not working and he is now so weak he needs a wheelchair. He has had an iron tranfusion and ultrasound and now a camera down his throat but

Make sure you keep track of results
I probably bang on about this too much, but it is essential you keep up to speed on your tests and results. Yesterday I was with my Consultant for a review, he spoke about the ultrasound I had back in March, left side of liver too small, right side too large. good blood test results. I asked about

Improvement from end stage 4 liver cirrhosis?
I’ve heard and read that people improve from alcoholic cirrhosis after they abstain from alcohol alongside their meds. But how about non-alcoholic related cirrhosis, caused by genetic disorders? Do you think it would be possible to not just slow down, but reverse or improve, maybe even go from decompensated

Hi all I have Budd chiari syndrome, which I was diagnosed with almost 6 years go. They performed an emergency tipss procedure at that time. I went into hospital yesterday to have it widened/stretched. They performed the operation but couldn’t perform the procedure as they couldn’t pass anything through

Liver cirrhosis and coma
Hi guys I'm new here. My mom has been diagnosed with end stage liver cirrhosis. Eight days ago, she had to be urgently admitted to the hospital because of a severe case of hepatic encepalopathy. Right now, she's in the ICU battling for life. When she was at home and during the early days at the hospital

So this evening marks 3 weeks since hubby's liver transplant, however Tuesday he was readmitted to hospital after blood tests revealed potassium was too high. Today his adeport was changed to envarsus which is taken once a day as it is slow release & he was discharged. Just wondering if anyone else has
