Cirrhosis

I have cirrhosis of the liver, my consultant says i should be ok but my dad had cirrhosis and died when i was 10. Im really concerned the same might happen to me.....

Oh my love. It must be scary baring in mind the family history. I don’t know the exact diagnosis but there is lots you can do to make sure it isn’t as bad as you fear. Listen to your specialist and stay close to this site. There are people here who know exactly how you feel.

You really need to find out why your dad had cirrhosis and what the connection is with yourself.

Certain issues are hereditary and you need to know where you stand on this.

Im not sure about my dad i know he was diabetic and he did drink but not to extremes(he worked in pubs) im a recovering alcoholic and previosly had acute hepatitis of the liver(swelling)

Main thing is no alcohol at all Maria.Trust the health professionals and ask questions. It's a good idea to write a list of questions to take with you. Treatments improve all the time and will have improved such a lot since you lost your dad.xxx

Omg i thought id let you know ive recently been for my bloods checking and to the surprise of even the consultant my bloods have come back just above average..
