High carb diet
Hi After my 2 day assessment this week the dietician there told me that o have to up the carbs I eat, especially eating 50g an hour before I go to bed! I’m struggling with this as I have always dieted using a low carb diet and it is very alien to me. Did anyone else get told to eat more carbs?? Sam

IBS and fatty foods
Hi All, I have suffered with IBS for over twenty years. Just over 12 months ago I had my gallbladder removed. Prior to that I had the worst 12 months ever with chronic upper gastric pain etc to do with the gallstones. I went on a low fat diet and it helped a lot. Since then I have been eating reasonably

I'M NEW HERE AND ON PREDNISOLONE FOR A YEAR FOR GCA
Since being diagnosed last October with GCA and prescribed Prednisolone, I've had breathing difficulties and fluid retention for which I am being treated but not very successfully - are the two connected? Does any other member have these difficulties. I've Googled and while there is no established evidence

What if my nearest and dearest don't like the idea of me fasting?
The "Welcome Newbies..." pack might assure them that (Intermittent) Fasting ¿and Low Carb? are good for you. https://healthunlocked.com/fasting-and-furious/posts/141714611/welcome-newbies-intermittent-fasting-faq Before we got "civilised", when we were hunter-gatherers, we often did not eat for days

Getting too skinny- follow up
Thank you everyone for your suggestions and replies. I’m looking for a new GP and will follow up when I find one. I have an appointment with my rheumy in a week and will discuss the weight loss with her. I will get my thyroid checked. There’s also the option of a consultation with a dietician

Reducing saturated fat intake may delay progression in men with MYC amplification
This was only a mouse study, but they also looked at animal fat/saturated fat intake of metastatic men treated at some top institutions. They found an association between dietary saturated fat intake and PC lethality in men with metastatic disease who had a specific kind of tumor mutation called MYC

Fatty liver/IBS diet
I am so frustrated. I am trying to find the right diet to lose weight manage my fatty liver and IBS. I was on an extreme low carb diet and had my liver enzymes normal after my diagnosis. Then about 10 months later I developed IBS. I am having a terrible time trying to manage both. Any suggestions

Welcome Newbies: (Intermittent) Fasting (aka Not Snacking All Day) FAQ
Welcome to our friendly, active, rapidly-growing forum. There is now quite a bit of information available on the internet - and I try to "guide you through the maze." If you are not on an intra-venus drip - and been fed 24/7, you are Not Eating All Day aka Intermittent Fasting - it does not have to be

Newbies: Which Fasting strategy should I use?
Once you have transitioned into "fat-burning mode", you might widen your fasting window until you are fasting 16 hours a day and eating in an eight-hour window - This is known as Intermittent Fasting 16:8. You can (gradually) widen your fasting window to 18:6 or 20:4. I have been fasting 20:4 for over

Is what food you eat really that important?
I personally know veggies, vegans and omnivores and don't see that much difference in how healthy they are, or their life expectancy/quality. Esselsytn recommends whole plant based diet with no oil, others, ultra low carb, full fat and both these opposits seem to work. My thoughts are the 3 demons:-
