I am so frustrated. I am trying to find the right diet to lose weight manage my fatty liver and IBS. I was on an extreme low carb diet and had my liver enzymes normal after my diagnosis. Then about 10 months later I developed IBS. I am having a terrible time trying to manage both. Any suggestions on how to find a healthy diet? Dietician? Does anyone know about the Fibroscan. I was diagnosed through blood test, sonogram and cat scan.

Fatty liver/IBS diet
well I was diagnosed 18 mos, by fibroscan eventually that I had a fatty liver, fibrosis and cirrohosis, NASH, I started a Low Carb new way of life, not a diet, because I can never go back to the way I was... This through a hospital in Indiana, Called IU...chose I would never have barriactrics surgery, but started Low Carb diet March of 2019. I have lossed all 225 units of insulin I have taken for many years, just stopped the pill, tradjentra for diabetes, & since I have lost 63 lbs of the 125lbs they wanted me to loose in a year, they have also reduced BP, cholesteral, pain meds and gout meds...I also ride 5 miles, 3 to 4 days a week...My dr's are very pleased with me and I feel 100% better .....
Hi Herman! Congratulations on your weight loss and feeling better. Can you recommend the low carb diet that you were on? I am struggling with keeping to a diet regimen for NAFL!
Thanks,
Nancy
YES I have been on a LC diet since 3-19-2019, I started with 92 carbs a day and now I am only allowed 50 carbs a day. The KETO diet, I was told I could not be on since I was a diabetic, but I do not eat any bread, potatoes, pasta, rice. I only eat broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, I can have strawberries,or red or black berries, I can eat eggs, cheese, cottage cheese, and meat, Thats about it and I ride my bike 3 to 4 times a day when able to with my schedule & wife's illness.....I only drink water or black coffee only!!!
Not much, but I have tried a lot of other plans and this one works....
HI !! Thanks for your reply..I am on a low carb diet but somehow the carbs keep creeping back in..so hard!!! I was going to a doctor for a diet plan and she limited carbs. ..sugar is the problem... I was diagnosed with NAFL several years ago...
I agree it is very hard, I use a carb fighter as my sweet treat, or I can eat 1/2 of a Hersheys Dark bar, 12g of Carb, but I have to do this to make sure I don't end up on the liver transplant list... It's a no brainer, I have lost all 225 units of insulin and for me that is more important than the weight, but yet it is still as important because I REALLY LIKE being smaller like I was when I graduated from high school....
Try a Mediterranean diet it is plant based and uses only lean meats. Do not eat ANY fast food this includes Subway etc... Avoid rare meats like steaks as they sit for a longer period before being digested. Also explore different cheeses such as goat cheese and Blue cheese. Exercise is a great idea, but if you have not worked out in a while I suggest walking a Large mall of hiking trails and movement is highly beneficial.
