Pre diagnosis and lost in the weeds
I've re phoned the doc asked about
prednisone
and asked to escalate to be passed on to my GP that is frankly amazing. She's back from holiday Monday so I feel a bit more in control now!

Hi My Gp said I will need to go back on steroids . I’ve been off them for a few weeks now & the agony is unbearable . My Gp put me on naproxen until blood test results come back . Receptionists said blood results normal . Gp hasn’t contacted me yet . So I was wondering if it’ll be okay to start

Lupron was helpful
I also started on Zytiga about two months ago at a reduced dose of 500 mg +1 tablet of
prednisone
. Both Lupron and Zytiga have brought my PSA and Testosterone to 0.1 and <3, respectively.

The Use of Low Dose Estradiol to Ameliorate the Effects of ADT on Bone Mass Density
It should be noted that abiraterone +
prednisone
, as a second line therapy, was initiated in August 2020, ~58 months after ADT with leuprolide was started.

Clarification on ALP and LDH markers
Symptoms are right lateral glut pain and insomnia (due to slight discomfort, urgency to pee, worry, and taking second pill of
prednisone
late in the day). He is adjusting the
prednisone
to earlier in the day to see if that is the major factor of poor sleep quality. Any suggestions are welcome!

Good news about steroids!
I thought I would share the results of a recent study. It looked at 1112 (wow!) people with Rheumatoid Arthritis who were either taking 7.5mg or less of prednisolone regularly, or a control drug which wasn't a steroid. After two years, those taking prednisolone weighed on average only around 1kg more

PMR remission? What determines it?
How do doctors/Rheumatologists actually determine when our PMR is in remission? I’m 3 years into my PMR journey and thought I was quite clued up on the illness. I thought I would be in remission when I have tapered off the Prednisolone and no longer have the aching/pain in my shoulders and hips.

Nervous changing from Prednisolone to Hydrocortisone
I have been on prednisolone for about 6 years and was down to 4.5mg but not feeling great with general pain so upped it to 5mg. Adrenal gland isn’t working so I doubt if I can get off steroids entirely anytime soon. Anyway spoke to my Endocrinologist the other day and we discussed trying Hydrocortisone

STATUS UPDATE
It has been a couple months now off
prednisone
per doctors recommendations. As a reminder, the Rheumy believed I did not have PMR despite the elevation of inflammation markers and the success of
prednisone
because I am 49yo.

re:- White blood cell count on steroids
Hi, Recently diagnosed with PMR and having started on 30mg. prednisolone now down to 15 mg in 3 weeks and seem to be doing well. Just had blood tests done and white blood cell count is high 16.4 10*9/L and am rather concerned, although as I understand this is a common side effect of steroids. Any

Long Term Use of Prednisolone
I have posted several times before on my lack of success in dealing with PMR. Earlier this year I had yet another flare and needed to go up again to 17.5mg. As previously recommended by members I commenced with what I thought was a slow steady reduction of 1mg every 2 weeks and from 10mg a reduction

Voice changes
Never a dull moment in my so called journey. After the drama with the thyroid I managed a quick breast lump and had a biopsy that fortunately was just a harmless fibroadenoma. Saw the Endocrinologist about the thyroid and he took more blood and I mentioned I had problems with my voice. It’s weaker
