Hi all. Just had a horrible weekend , fast irregular heart rate, lasted over 1 hour . Of course it had stopped by the time I was monitored, so they didn't really have any record . Spent 2 nights in EAU wired up , lots of ecgs bloods etc. They reassured me it wasn't a heart attack . The flutters continued for a couple of days but not like the initial attack. I've has ectopics since I've been on meds, 30 years now but this was worse. I now have Bisoprolol to take if needed. In a couple of weeks I will have a 5 day ecg monitor.

I'm just so nervous that it's going to happen again , it was very scary.

I'm wondering low magnesium could be a cause. Also since Easter I have had antibiotics, covid, antivirals, vaccine, antifungals, plus my usial azathioprine, Prednisolone and Hydroxycholoquin! perhaps my body has too many chemicals floating around !

Anyone else had a similar problem?

Have to say the NHS, Torbay hospital and ambulance were fantastic , such great people , so understaffed though !

Here if you are in hospital and have an episode they always give liquid magnesium in the same way you are to use the bisoprolol (it does nothing for me) and I have a box of the same product to use at home. Sometimes if I take the dose as soon as I notice the flutters it just stops quite quickly. Others swear by cold water on their wrists or placing ice there and on their chest.

I had atrial fibrillation for up to 12 hours a day almost every day for a while in the spring after the bivalent booster jab, until my medication was changed which has made a big difference. It can be inconvenient as I feel quite rubbish when it is on but I'm to have an ablation on Dec 5th so I hope that will sort it more effectively. I've only called the ambulance twice - once it had stopped by they time they got me to the ER but they had got it on their ECG machine. The second time was a bit more dramatic, usually my heart rate is 120s to 130s and I just leave that but a few days before my husband died I woke up with a heart rate of 190 which ISN'T OK so I called the ambulance and the Notarzt (emergency doctor) was here in double quick time and I was taken in on blue lights! I was sent home mid-afternoon. I was just exhausted and stressed. Hasn't happened that bad since thank goodness. I actually find a bit more pred helps - it is definitely related to the inflammation with my vasculitis.

Hello. Its scary isnt it when this hapens. I had the same thing, but it was everyday. Got all the checks at doctors who could hear the missing hearr beats. Sent me to hospital for txts. To cut a long story short. I have been on bisoporol for about 15yrs. Take it daily and its been great. No problems. I take 5mg. I have arythmia. Hopefully yours will settle down if you take that. Best of luck

I had that but for about 15 mins when I had 3 injections at the dentist for a root filling. First time it had happened although I'd had loads of teeth work before due yo sjogrens. Racing heart felt faint it was horrible. I'd just become intolerant to adrenaline. I'm still just beginning to get my head round the fact that suddenly lupus decides to react in some way it never has before. It really throws you doesn't it. At least they gave your heart a thorough check and not leaving you to it.

Have you tried reishi mushroom powder? The GP nurse recommended I try ‘Dirtea’ mushroom powders, they are strong and very effective. Be careful how much you use as it really relaxes the whole body to let the body recover from whatever is making it flutter/jumpy. You will sleep well adding reishi to a cup of chamomile tea at bed time. I have mine in bed as I couldn’t walk upstairs after drinking it (8th tea spoon dose)
