I started tapering prednisone 10 one day 5 the next for 4 weeks starting 25/6 and since Thursday all of my symptoms are back well my pleural effusion is definitely back with a vengeance. Could this be down to the reduction?
Sorry my heads all over the place, my breathing hurts and I’m in so much pain
Kind regards

Quick reply just going out - but if you are alternating 10mg one day. 5mg the next no wonder you are struggling. Back to 10mg and then a much slower taper -reducing by only 1mg a time…
Honestly I really have no faith in this rheumatologist, he says one thing to my respiratory consultant and he’s totally different to me in fact he’s rude, ignorant. Every time I go he asks for my medication list, my daughter is fuming with him. I’m waiting for hospital respiratory to ring me because they want me to be seen today.
Goodness me, that would have sent me into a spin of withdrawal of boom and bust. As DL says, 1mg allows your body to adjust more easily to avoid feeling bad such that you don’t know what is causing what.
hi, I can’t tell from your bio but how long have you had PMR. You will find it very difficult if you taper in the manner that your rheumy has told you to. Is this for your lung problems or for PMR.
I hope you can go back to 10mg and will start to feel better
Oh my days!! From now on trust the experts on here as your rheumatologist is going against all research and advice from numerous quarters. Hope you feel better very soon with your increase to 10mgs.
I suppose that anyone who has been on a short course for something else might manage it. Doesn't work after you have been on pred for a while or for PMR patients though.
