Hypothyroid & Diabetes
I wanted to share something interesting with you guys. I was diagnosed as a diabetic in 2012. I immediately went on diet and lost weight, (effectively putting myself into remission). My HbA1c was 49 at diagnosis. Every year from then on, my HbA1c was down to 35. Then 2 years ago, I was diagnosed as

Cauliflower in ginger sauce with roast parsnips, low carb vegan.
Hi everyone, Here's what I had for diner tonight, I'd already bought a local grown cauliflower and some parsnips when I noticed a reply with a member saying they were pre-diabetic and vegan so I thought I'd bake the cauliflower and parsnips and keep it plant based and low carb and it's also gluten free

Exercise to lose weight.
Eating less helps - particularly cutting out (refined) carbohydrates - Low Carbohydrate, High-Fat (LCHF) and Intermittent Fasting (IF) - not eating for e.g 16 or 20 hours a day. I am 95kg, and, according to my gizmo, walking 6.1 km per day burns 654 calories per day. One pound of fat is 3,500 calories

Diabetes 2 - cause & treatment
Diabetes 2 is now reclassified as an Autoimmune disease. See article below http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/222766.php It means there are antibodies to Insulin. The insu-lin is there but the antibodies bind to it and it is not free to act as insulin. Even when more insulin is produced

One year good results with Imbruvica:
As part of my

diabetes
management, I also walk one hour each day on my treadmill: This may also have contributed to the impact of the Imbruvica to control the CLL. I systematically recommend : Get yourself a basic treadmill to walk inside your home every day.

Feast and Fast
I have got out of the habit of eating after 14:00, and I have to eat to keep up to my target weight! (no sympathy expected) I have been Intermittent Fasting (IF) 20/4 for over 18 months, and fasting for 68 hours most months - but I missed last month, partly because I was below my target weight (95kg

I need help
Hi, I am so fed up with the way I feel and look because of my weight . I stopped smoking a year ago and lost a friend due to ill health and so began eating. I have put on almost five stone in the last 12 months 😢 . It’s time to kick myself up the backside and change my eating disorder. Plus I can’t

Fructosamine test
The difference in the tests is that the Fructosamine measures the average over a period of 2-3 weeks, while the HbA1C measures the average over a period of 2-3 months. The HbA1C test reveals more long-term glucose control, while the fructosamine test reveals short-term. Fructosamine testing may be used

Odd Sensor: DEXCOM
Okay, yesterday was a really bad day for the old sensor that was removed this morning. For most of the day (and after the Thanksgiving dinner last night) the sensor kept saying that I was lower than I really was. In some cases, this is okay because I had been told that the sensor should be in the 20%

Ideal food
Whatever we eat,the ultimate result is carbohydrates, which is fuel to run our biological laboratory. Now if we eat less, then no tummy satisfaction and if we eat excess, there is increase in glucose in blood. So,the ideal food should be such that it gives tummy satisfaction, enough carbohydrates to run the

Hello, I was diagnosed with PMR in August 2018, started on 15 mg pred, which worked like a dream. Been tapering ever since but have found it very difficult from 10 mg downwards. Merry MidWinter everyone!
It’s a few months since I posted here. I’m still following a very restrictive anti-inflammatory auto-immune diet and lifestyle and after nearly two years of doing so my rheumy says the PMR is now in remission although I’m still on 3mg Pred and slowly continuing to taper so I’m not quite sure what that
