Hi, I am so fed up with the way I feel and look because of my weight . I stopped smoking a year ago and lost a friend due to ill health and so began eating. I have put on almost five stone in the last 12 months 😢 .
It’s time to kick myself up the backside and change my eating disorder. Plus I can’t walk like I used to due to ankles wanting to crumble on me due to weight, I hate this and really want to lose weight and most importantly do not wasn’t type 2 diabetes .

I'm sorry to hear you lost a friend. Comfort eating can be very hard as it keeps going until you're in the right place to deal with it.
We have lots of topic sections for you to browse through, and I hope you find some inspiration there.
My first suggestion is always to cut back on the amount of processed foods in your diet & replace them with whole foods, such as veggies, rice, unprocessed meats and fish. If you need some inspiration, Pinterest can be very helpful, and I look for key words like whole 30 or paleo & adapt them to suit.
Hello Annie55n welcome to the forum and well done for giving up smoking, now you need to use the same positive motivation to lose weight, so you can do it...
Changing eating habits starts with one meal an one day at a time and ends up with a sustainable diet that works for you. So I’d look at ways to cut calories and increase nutrition and buy a bag of grapes to snack on and make changes like this and combined with exercise you can reach your goal.
You’re in great company on here for a healthy diet and lifestyle leading to a more self assured you.
So good luck with your weight loss and you are not alone....
Jerry 😊
Ps I am very sorry that you lost your friend that can't help.

You’ll be walking better 🚶♀️ & concerns about Type 2 Diabetes will fall wayside.
Annie, a terrific well done on the giving up smoking 🚬 that is amazingly brilliant....it also shows that you have fantastic will power - think of some non food treats that you can give yourself while you get the healthy eating in check - a film, a magazine, a manicure, a candlelit relaxing bath 🛀.....reward yourself !
