Odd Sensor: DEXCOM

Okay, yesterday was a really bad day for the old sensor that was removed this morning. For most of the day (and after the Thanksgiving dinner last night) the sensor kept saying that I was lower than I really was. In some cases, this is okay because I had been told that the sensor should be in the 20% range from the real number on the blood testing monitor. If it isn't, then recalibrate only when the arrows aren't straight up or down. I've known this for 4.5 years.

Between the inaccurate numbers and the sensor going to the lowest 55 alarm on the system, I was testing and recalibrating a lot (more than you're suppose to) before bedtime. I also ended up having a lot of carbs. for my bedtime snack because nothing was making the numbers go up fast enough. If a person has had 100+ carbs. at a special meal for a holiday, you would probably say that they would have a blood sugar up in the 300s and above, right? Well, that wasn't what happened at all. It never went over 100+ before going to bed!

During the day, the numbers kept going in and out, so you never knew when the sensor would finally quit on you. I was so frustrated with the old sensor and was tired of not having readings like they were suppose to be. I was thinking of calling the Tech Support crew and saying that they would have to send another free sensor. Lucky me, I didn't have to do that.

The new sensor I put in this morning is working a lot better than the one from last week. I hope it lasts the entire week.

Hey better luck this time Leah...🤞It must be so frustrating having an erroneous sensor as it's vital for you to know accurately.

Jerry 😊

You’re right about that! Accuracies are very important for better blood sugars when using any CGM.😀
