W5R1 - Switch on ?
Janda mentioned how this run doesn't seem as much of a test as some of the previous weeks and I have to agree. It's not that it's any easier, it isn't, it just seems that it's working, we're improving. I think Laura even mentions it in one of her pep talks. On that subject she's beginning to really

Happy hormones :D
It's been a while since I've posted, so a quick summary: Week 4, Run 3: Due to social commitments I had yet another morning run. Which I'd love to love, but they just ruin me. Got through it albeit a lot slower than W4R2 (I ran the same route and was about 150 metres behind where I was on the previous

Exhausted, exhausted, exhausted . . . I'm
so tired of it. I'm taking Plaqunil but it doesn't seem to help. Anyone have any other ideas? We are going to Disneyland in October and I'm going to need more pep and energy. Jean

Feeling discouraged :( Will I ever be fast(er)?
Well, I graduated about three weeks ago and now the initial sense of achievement had begun to ware off - I'm struggling not to feel really discouraged by my lack of speed :( It doesn't help that a couple of friends have graduates since and are merrily sailing along doing OVER 5K in 30 min - leaving me

EMDR anyone?
Hello fellow anxious people. I'm due to start a course of therapy called Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, EMDR, and was wondering if anyone had any experience of it? I'm hoping it is going to be the beginning of the end to my anxious ways as those that be believe my anxiety is PTSD. Anyone

Telling tall stories
My late husband lost his right leg in a traffic accident. He was very brave, and coped with his prosthetic leg pretty well, managing to play squash, ride a bike, and even to run a half-marathon. He didn't ever let his disability stop him doing anything he wanted to, although if washing the

Mind over matter...
I struggle today to know what the topic of this post should be.. To say W5R3 was more mentally challenging than physically is an understatement. I even mentally prepared myself today by reading as a distraction prior to tackling my nemisis... As I was approaching the run I could hear my inner

Remember to congratulate yourself!
I wanted to pass on quite a simple idea, really, but it's one I've found helpful and I think its incredibly important: During recovery, don't forget to congratulate yourself for each step you take! After years of anxiety, I'm happy to say I function well in daily life nowadays, but I often

Needing a bit of pep talk and perspective.....
Good evening everyone, I am felling pretty down today so I thought I'd come on the forum to vent a little of my frustrations. I am not sure if someone would remember me. I posted last year about my asthma triggered for the 1st time ever in Cairo where I worked and the hard decision I had to make about

Just Stop and Listen
I'm tired of life It's so damned hard. It wears me down, It wipes me out. Trying to be upbeat and happy, while dealing with the demons of illness that invade my body is all consuming. Those people around me who expect me to smile and be STRONG, simply can't and won't deal with what

My turns to vent now!! Please someone tell me how to handle a child who fears for herself Yes the Asthma's bad, but sometimes the psychology is a harder thing to administer when you have little/no experience. Is it ok to use St Johns Wort?
Hi Have been feeling a little bit down lately and thought that rather than go to my GP i would take some St Johns Wort. I picked up some today from Superdrug. There is no leaflet in it or information on the back of the packet which would make me think that this isnt safe for me given the specific drugs

Pycnogenol
Have seen articles in newsapapers about Pycnogenol. It is also referred to on this asthma site news as ""'An add-on treatment made from pine bark extract may help to improve the symptoms of children with mild to moderate asthma, suggests a new study."" This was in 2005. Would appreciate your comments

Can I take St. John's Wort whilst taking MTX?
I have been disgnosed with depression but do not wish to take anti-depressents. Is it ok to take St. John's wort or will it interact with MTX?

Natural Anti-depressants
Anyone have positive experience of taking natural anti-depressants.. Changed my thyroid meds a few times this year and became mildly depressed. Tried St Johns Wort with some result, gone on to Prozac for a few weeks which has stopped it, but have side affects. Love to hear of a natural product that works
