Celebrating the run
No runs for 12 days, to think that on that last one the NRC app gave me a badge for running 6 weeks in a row... I had good reasons not to run, a painful arm after my flu jab, a wisdom tooth out and of course, all that ice and snow. Husband has been having aches and pains so there's been no peer pressure

FCR-6plus years in remission - am I cured.
Had my 6 monthly telephone consultation yesterday. Still in remission with wbc at 5.7 and all in normal range. Super. So, I get round to the question “I know there is no cure as such but am I heading that way?” Answer; the nature of CLL means I could stay in remission for years or next time be heading

Ultrasound for possible temporal arteritis
Well after being on prednisone since Oct, , 2016 , diagnosed origninally by GP, put on 40 mgs, and after over 6 years of treatment, slowly getting down to 4 mgs for last 3 mos, I now am having symptons appearing to be GCA related. I was on 5 mgs for probably almost 2 years, with not a lot of serious

PMR and vaccines
I have PMR which came on after my
Pneumococcal
vaccine
: has anyone experienced this . my rheumatologist said it could be the cause or it was just coincidental.

PMR/GCA and the Shingles Vaccine
I have seen information with regard to patients who are immunosuppressant that they can be offered the Shingles Vaccine. Ordinarily this vaccine is only offered to patients from age 70 until 79. I am 69.1.2 and have requested this vaccine from my GP but I cannot find the exact wording that says that

Flu Vaccine Study - call for participants
People living with conditions linked to chronic liver disease have higher rates of serious illness from flu. However, this group also tends to have lower rates of flu vaccine uptake. Researchers from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine are looking for people to take part into a study

almost 200 days post SCT update
Spurred on by Jennie’s update earlier, I thought it was high time that I wrote an update on my progress. I’m almost at 200 days post transplant. I’ve hardly had any issues so far other than my Hb count has sat quite stubbornly at or around 80 for the past couple of months. This has resulted in a good

I haven't been out since Sunday as my flu jab left me with a very painful arm, but hey ho, better than getting ill. I decided it was my body telling me to let the vaccine do its job. Today was a beautiful sunny morning for a run and the pain has more or less gone so no excuses, up and out. Looking

Autoimmune arthritis vs bronchiectasis treatments.
Update on rheumatologist appointment: My rheumatologist has a couple of other patients who have bronchiectasis and came up with a new treatment for me to consider. She wants me off the Brenzys (a version of Embrel) and on daily Rinvoq tablets. It's a Janus Kinase (JAK) inhibitor and the benefit is that

Flare after two surgeries
Hi, I’m looking for some advice please. I’m just over 2 years with PMR. I’ve had two shoulder surgeries in the past 10 weeks. The first was extensive surgery to repair 3 rotator cuff tears and remove bone spurs and the 2nd, 3 weeks ago was a revision to wash out the shoulder because of healing issues

How long to wait before having Covid & flu jabs?
Good day. I came out of hospital once again yesterday afternoon, my third admission in less than 2months. Because of this I missed having my flu jab & my Covid booster(my 6th jab). I asked the hospital doctor if I could get them done now but he said no & that I need to wait 6 weeks before getting them

COVID booster severe reaction
Tuesday, 22nd November 2022, 18:30, I received my first ever COVID booster, I got my first COVID job last year? Then I felt I'd been hit by a double decker bus, the symptoms lasted 24 hours, with mild flu like symptoms, sleeping for most of the time, only waking the odd time for a drink to wet my whistle

flu jab
not sure whether to get this or not. Have severe bronchiectasis and breathless on movement. Take Nacsys, an effervescent tablet which loosens the mucous and helps against infections. Any advice welcome. I am 88. Iris
