No runs for 12 days, to think that on that last one the NRC app gave me a badge for running 6 weeks in a row...
I had good reasons not to run, a painful arm after my flu jab, a wisdom tooth out and of course, all that ice and snow. Husband has been having aches and pains so there's been no peer pressure to get outside. Every time I looked out of the window all I could imagine was breaking my leg in an icy field and dying, alone, of hypothermia (what, me a drama queen??).
At the weekend I decided I may as well slob out and surrender myself to the couch and the Quality Street until January. Last night I checked the weather forecast for today - rainy intervals. Definitely gonna stay in bed!
Then I woke this morning and checked again - sunny intervals, 7C. Looked out of the window - no rain in sight. Forced myself into my running gear, chose the NRC Celebration Run and set off.
The weather was perfect (for a run). Not hot, not cold, not much wind, no sun in my eyes. OK it was a bit gloomy but Coach B was asking me what I'd celebrated recently. Well, last week we had a family event that was a definite celebration and today is my eldest's birthday. My mood lifted with every step. I wasn't going very fast but the pace felt easy and it was good to be moving again.
The run was only 25 minutes and I had a bit of path left over at the end so covered 3.5km in all. Not the longest run but I was so glad I made the effort. The hardest part was, as it often is, getting out of the house.
A few more reasons for me to celebrate :
My great niece had a baby a few days ago so now I'm a great-great-auntie!
Yesterday I got the Wordle in one (very lucky) guess and today I got it in two
I challenged a parking ticket and got an email today saying it would be cancelled
Ooh, and I got negative splits! πββοΈπππ
