B12 deficiency, macrocytosis, and potassium drop
I have macrocytic anemia. My MCV for the past 7 years has hovered around 100. I had one good result of 93 and that was 3 months after getting loading shots of Cyanocobalamin when I was first diagnosed with B12 deficiency over a year ago. My doctor stopped my shots after that and I took only sublingual

Help with test results - haemochromatosis with iron deficiency?
A few years ago I regularly had blood tests which showed high iron levels so my doc suspected Haemochromatosis. I had the genetic testing which showed I had the gene mutation. I used to get blood drawn to treat it and bring down my iron levels. However, recently I had blood tests which showed low ferritin

blue fingers when in hot bath??
Has anyone else had this? It happen to my toes when I was in the shower the other day too. I don’t know if it’s Raynauds or my low ferritin/anemia or what. About to go for a colonoscopy this week for the anemia and a high positive FIT test but I can’t see it being linked to that.

Advice needed on iron levels (plus an update on Targinact)
Hi everyone, I posted recently asking for advice about Targinact, which I started taking on 10 January. I had such an extreme and horrible reaction that I stopped taking it 15 days later. Given my dose was only 5/2.5mg daily, I haven't had any withdrawal issues other than feeling very tired and depressed

Teenager with B12 Deficiency - Help
Hi In 2021 my 15 yr old daughter had symptoms of B12 deficiency (sleeping too much, poor appetite, exhausted in sport, depressed, moody) so I had her blood tested privately via online company and the Active B12 results were low normal (against adult ref ranges) so we had the recommended MMA which was

Does a TSH of 5.16 mean that I have mild hypothyroidism?
Hello, I'm new to the thyroid group, but am a member of the
pernicious
anaemia
group. I'm in the US. About 6 months ago, I asked for my thyroid to be tested, because often times people with PA also have other autoimmune issues like thyroiditis or hashimoto's. My TSH is 5.16.

Following on from my post a few weeks ago https://healthunlocked.com/thyroiduk/posts/150411438/low-ferritin-again - apologies for not posting results etc but ended up dealing with bit of a family crisis and then the GP surgery rang saying a doc wanted to discuss my blood results of mid-November! Low iron
I have an iron count of between 29 and 33 from 2021 to now on a range of 11-360. For the last six months I've been taking a supplement to boost the serum iron level and the level has dropped from 33 to 31. I think I'm anaemic for symptomatic reasons. I SI EOD and have done for a year. My health is beginning

Adrenal problems
I'd like someone to advise on some results I received last week. I have just had an adrenal "crash" so to speak and my previous post was about my thyroid meds. I'd like to know where in range ferritin and iron should be.Ferritin 113ug/L (11-307) Haemoglobin estimation 128g/L (115-165) Hematocrit 38.8%

Reducing Besremi dosing
Hi Community, I shared prior that I upped my Besremi dose from 150 to 180 the past two months. All was going well with several benefits which hadn't happened the past 18 months on Besremi: My JAK2 Allele dropped more than 20%, I have not needed a PB for months which means I now have normal iron

Vitamin B12 status in health and disease: a critical review. Diagnosis of deficiency and insufficiency – clinical and laboratory pitfalls
This is an extraordinary thorough review of B12 deficiency and B12 insufficiency, with an actual description of the difference, including severity of symptoms. One interesting factoid is quoted here: "In 1900, Russell noted characteristics of B12 deficiency that are overlooked with surprising frequency

It's not the adrenals it’s AF!
I kept thinking it was because of my tapering: I was short of breath, felt “chesty” and dizzy. The monitor I wore showed <1% incidence of AF but still at risk for stroke- so Eliquis for me. Scheduled for a visit to the electrophysiology lab for assessment. I believe it’s getting more frequent. Stopped

b12 injections done but don’t feel better
hi I’ve recently been diagnosed with b12 deficiency, no idea why my if was fine apparently and no sign of coeliac. Dr doesn’t seem to want to look into it any further which is annoying. But I’m finished with my initial injections almost two weeks ago and I don’t feel any better. Is this normal?

Low ferritin again
Unsurprisingly my ferritin has fallen back to the very bottom of the range yet again after i ceased iron supplements back in march. Raised a call with the surgery this morning and within 6 minutes of raising the call online it had been closed by the enhanced care practitioner as saying no action required

Iron Deficiency and Iron Deficiency Anemia: Potential Risk Factors in Bone Loss
Members are likely all too familiar with patients being told that they are suffering osteopenia or osteoporosis due to having too much thyroid hormone. And, especially, too much T3. While it is important to realise that there is a case to be made regarding excess thyroid hormone, it is just as important
