New here!
Many affected individuals develop other movement problems, such as a pattern of movement abnormalities known as
parkinsonism
, which includes tremors when not moving (resting tremor), rigidity, and unusually slow movement(bradykinesia).

Don't want to join this group! (Ranting about diagnosis)
We saw the neuro today, at the end of a four-week levodopa trial to see if my husband has regular Parkinson's vs CBD or other atypical
parkinsonism
, and I was really hopeful because I could improvements in his facial expression and for the last couple days his handwriting was better.

Slow Progression PSP-P and MR Parkinsonism index predicts vertical supranuclear gaze palsy in patients with psp-parkinsonism
Hi. well we went to neuro opthalmologst and after having a look said what made them make a diagnosis of PSP? "There is no indication of PSP and tends towards Parkinsons" I explained that the diagnosis was made due to the Hummingbird sign on the MRI. Looked like he didn't know what I was talking about

Traditional Chinese Medicine Improves Activities of Daily Living in Parkinson's Disease
The results indicate that ZAZ2 improved activities of daily living (ADL) of
parkinsonism
and, thus, is a potentially suitable drug for long-term use. https://www.hindawi.com/journals/pd/2011/789506/#B21

The single biggest predictor of the rate of Parkinson's progression is if you are lonely. Finding by Dr. Laurie Mischley 4/25/18
Pretty interesting article "Indeed, I have lost count of the number of people with PD who have said something to me along the lines of "my friends and family have abandoned me/don't visit/lost touch". The negative feedback loops between loneliness and disease progression can be one of the most vicious

Soursop and causing Parkinsons and PSP
I have read quite a few articles on the belief that drinking and eating the Soursop fruit can contribute to Parkinsons and PSP. Tonight I was watching a cooking program and Soursop fruit was an ingredient. Shouldn't the public be made more aware of the dangers of ingesting soursop. Plus I see it is touted

Parkinson’s Treatments Go After Genetic Targets
Current treatments for Parkinson’s disease target motor symptoms, and do nothing to halt progression or address other aspects of the disease. To get beyond this state of affairs, researchers are targeting the underlying disease pathology. They take guidance from genetic studies that have highlighted

5-HTP
I’m thinking of trying 5-HTP. Are we ok taking this with having hashimotos and has anyone had and benefits themselves on this supplement? Thanks 5-HTP dietary supplements help raise serotonin levels in the brain. Since serotonin helps regulate mood and behavior, 5-HTP may have a positive effect on sleep

Rigidity getting worse in a period of two weeks
Hi, after a relative stable period, I have experienced now, an increasing rigidity (even almost cramps) a long my whole right site. (even in my jaw muscles). At most in the afternoon, about 15.00 - 16.00. Taking 3 times a day Sinemet 25/100 (morning , noon , 17.00) and still experimenting with Mucuna

Haloperidol
Hi all. Dad is on regular morphine, low dose but die to be increased with next injection. He's been struggling a bit this afternoon, moaning and gurgling. The dr prescribed Haloperidol which the nurse has just administered. I've read conflicting information about haloperidol and it's potential to hasten

5-HTP in patients not taking Sinemet can worsen symptoms of PD
According to The Clinician's Handbook of Natural Medicine 5-Hydroxy-l-tryptophan (5-HTP) is beneficial only if used in combination with the drug Sinemet (a combination of l-dopa and decarboxylase inhibitor carbidopa). Brain serotonin is decreased in PD, but reduction in dopamine receptors is more severe
