Clinical trial will assess the safety and tolerability in Parkinson’s patients to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) – a drug which is hoped could potentially be re-positioned to help slow down the progression of the disease https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/news/nr/liver-drug-trialled-in-parkinsons-patients-1.828628

Stress and Parkinson's
In response to participants who asked for references in the thread dealing with stress and Parkinson's, here is the abstract of the first paper I was thinking about. I did not find the second one for now (Two women patients that were cured from PD through "relieving the cause of their stress"). A potential

Dental Care and Parkinson’s
My last dental cleaning wasn’t a pleasant one because I was too tensed up to keep my mouth open for the extended period of time. I was tremoring as well. I was particularly struck with how little the doctor seemed to appreciate the unique issues with Parkinson’s. I am now searching for a dentist who

Intermittent Fasting Seems To Work
I have been experimenting with intermittent fasting. I eat no earlier than 2:00 p.m. and no later than 8:00 p.m. Some days, I don't eat until 5:00 p.m. Especially when I wait until 5:00, my sense of smell is much better and I feel better than ever. I never had a resting tremor, but occasionally

Generic Drugs: Inactive Ingredients
It is with some hesitancy that I write on this topic. My purpose is to inform, not to alarm. The issues I shall discuss are real, but I expect have very small impact on the general community. Please take care not to imagine that everything I say applies to you personally. With these caveats I shall proceed

Is your glass half-full or half-empty? 6-year-old HU thread about MJF’s sitcom about PD causes controversy.
Some are harshly critical, felt the program was in bad taste, that it’s offensive to create humor about PD, while others thought it was exactly the right antidote. While most of us agree ‘you are what you eat,’ I also think ‘you are what you think.’ https://healthunlocked.com/parkinsonsmovement/posts

I just saw this in an email and thought I would share it. Parkinson’s: Off Broadway Interview Marc and Karen Jaffe Marc Jaffe has been acting funny for over 30 years. And writing funny. After getting his MBA from the University of Michigan he pursued the typical business career of stand-up comedy

sauce you should eat everyday to avoid symptoms
Yellow mustard could help to relieve one of the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease - muscle cramping. That’s because it contains the spice turmeric, which eases cramping (especially at night), said charity The Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkinson’s Research. https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health

PSP Awareness... long winded
The Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS, which is in the same family of
Parkinsonism
as PSP, CBD and MSA, was hugely successful. At the very least, I hoped it would be widely shared on social media. It takes nothing to click on the Share Button.

Mechanism by which Alpha synuclein causes neuronal cell death found
https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/news/newsroom/news-releases/road-to-cell-death-more-clearly-identified-for-parkinsons-disease This is of interest because it provides clues as to how to mitigate or prevent Parkinson's. See the commentary by Dr. Shallenberger that I posted below. Also, at least one person

Last night my stepson (adult, 38, lives with us, learning disabled, lost his job of 20 plus years because of his temper) had a temper tantrum, ranting about how he wanted to start 2019 with a job. He went too far when he said he was tired of looking after his father (when I go to work he gives Dad his

Dr David Permutter and the Appendix.
For some reason, this will not allow me to copy and paste a link, even though I've done it here many times. I wanted to direct you to a talk by neurologist Dr David Perlmutter on Parkinson's and the appendix. Forgive me if you've already seen it. He speaks of a markedly reduced risk for PD in those who've
