Beautiful words - posted on behalf of Althea-C
Hi everyone, I'm posting this on behalf of Althea-C who, it turns out, has a very special way with words. She asked me to help her post this to the group, which I'm more than happy to do. I think she's managed to capture and express so much of what we all feel and go through. I'm so glad she agreed to

Mother with Parkinson's
I started my Mom on Mannitol yesterday. I know they said you won't notice any changes until about a month of taking it. And I expected as much since my Mom is at about stage 4. But I have to tell you that she just moved her legs for me while I was changing her diaper. She hasn't done that in almost

PMR and Vertigo
Over the past four days I have developed vertigo, which would be NO fu if it wasn't accompanied by nausea. I have GCA as well, and wondered if anyone out there has any advice for me. I have read that BPPV (Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) can accompany PMR and GCA. So much to learn. Every day is

Creatine and leg pain
Hi all. I've been on levo since April. 75mg then 100mg for the last few weeks. I have leg and hip pain with muscle weakness. Doc says I should have creatine checked. It's been getting slowly worse since diagnosed with autoimmune hypo in April. Can anyone shed a light on my leg issues? Thanks so much

Now a word from our Sponsor....... (conclusion)
First let me reiterate that I am not a Schill for the Marijuana Industry and had ( perhaps to a my detriment ) some pride issues to the fact that I could say I have never tried it. In researching the past for Parkinson's treatments I found that Marijuana has been long prescribed as a treatment. I had

Anyone tried using Creatine ?
I am not medically trained . So do not undertake any of my suggestions without consulting your doctor or PD nurse. As running and general fitness is the main reason for my always " looking for help and assistance" I came across Creatine. It's useful in maintaining muscle strength in sports and also

NDT. Not all the same.
I made the mistake of mixing two brands of NDT yesterday. WP thyroid, which I've been taking for the last couple of months and NP thyroid. I normally take 2 grains first thing. I stupidly took one grain of each. Wow, what a difference. Brain feels confused, edgy feeling inside but feeling lack lustre

A question for JohntPM.
Morning John, I'm not sure if you are a medical person or a statistician so ? ( I absolve you completely from any results that occurred either good or bad) So following on from my previous post about my reducing Rotigotine ...... I reduced the patches by about 10% in size , and in less than 48 hrs

Methylation and PD
It is suggested, therefore, that increased methylation may be an inducing factor in
parkinsonism
. Accordingly, the effects of an increase in methylation in the brain of rats were studied.

So yesterday I went to see my neurologist and ......
By 2.30 he was running 1hr late. So I sat in the waiting area and thought " why the hell am I here". Everyone else needed his help . I was just adding to his backlog. I wanted advice on reducing 6mg Rotigotine patches . (I reasonably believe that my exercise routine including running

A newbie with PSP needs advice!
The DAT scan came back as “probable
Parkinsonism
” and my neurologist told me it was most likely “a-typical
Parkinsonism
”. A short search on Google told me that PSP was probably the diagnosis that I would be given. And then, my neurologist changed his affiliation, and I could no longer see him.

5-HTP
Who is finding 5-HTP useful? For what? At what dosage? I've read that it boosts serotonin, helping anxiety, depressIon and tremors, but that smaller doses work better than larger ones.

Be prepared for doctor's appointment
I have been here since 2004 and finally diagnosed in 2010 after Tremor came out in my hand at the end of 2009. I definitely agree that a movement disorder specialist is an asset to receiving a Parkinson's disease diagnosis. Things you can do to prepare for an appointment: Write down any symptoms you're
