Monday round up
She was suffering with dementia and receiving
palliative
care
, and the program really did capture a moral dilemma for a generally very loving son. I thought the outcome of the trial was as fair as it could be, given the awful circumstances. If you happened to see it, what did you think?

Short update on MIL
The oncologist has basically moved her from treatment stage to
palliative
care
stage. We've already started setting things up, experience is helping! Adjustable bed, hand held shower, grab bars, toilet seat riser, shower chair, lift chair, bedside table, etc all in place.

Nightmares and flashbacks
There was no
palliative
care
team. Each time a doctor spoke to me he/she apologised for not being familiar with her situation but said that they just needed to keep her comfortable. Then the new shift of agency workers would arrive and do the opposite in their efforts to keep her alive.

At 76 I am having
palliative
care
for my heart problems, so have not been sent to a specialist centre for PH, and wonder if I should push for it. Something to discuss with my GP, respiratory nurse who I see tomorrow, and cardiologist who I see next week. I am already on 24 hour oxygen therapy.

Overhead my onco being reprimanded last week. I am sure it was about me. Very long, venting. Feel free NOT to read.
So she said she would refer me to
palliative
care
. I felt trapped in my apt. I was finally given an appt. with the pain specialist as I had been taking for almost two years (then for my tumor pain only) 800 mg. of ibuprofen. It just doesn't cover the pain anymore.

Hospital indefinitely?
Our doctor is not really giving us a programme of
palliative
care
and we are not sure whether we could handle this high care ourselves outside of the hospital. Should we get another doctor's advice?

Gemcitabine and Carboplatin tomorrow
The good news is that I saw the
palliative
care
doctor at my local hospice yesterday who took time to listen to me, examined me, studied my ct pictures carefully and has some ideas about bowel issues and pain in my side and hip.

Hello from Indiana, USA
We have contacted a
palliative
care
center because we want someone to check my husband's lungs and heart regularly. We live about an hour from the city where the doctors are. Also, I will soon need help moving my husband.

Palliative Care..
We have already been told Mum is now going on
palliative
care
so if and when she gets the next infection she will only be given sedation and pain relief. We have got hospice on board.

He died at home , as we both wished. with support from wonderful
Palliative
care
nurses. The only consolation is that he is now free from this dreadful disease and at peace. The last few months have been very hard and difficult to watch, It has been a long struggle.

His medical team has withdrawn all treatment other than
palliative
care
. I am still exploring the Veyonda therapy that I raised under the posting Lutetium -177 Failure. In recent days, he has started to have muscular twitches in both legs for some minutes. He tells me it is painful.

My PCP came to visit me,
Palliative
Care
came by Talk, my Psychiatrist called me to see how I was doing, and I was assured that once you are admitted they notify your entire team. Well, someone was missing from my list of visitors/callers: my oncologist.

Timelines/ palliative care
I think the
palliative
care
team take over as contact at the moment I’m not sure what to ask. My mum wants to make plans to do things but not sure because she doesn’t have a timeframe and will she be well enough? Any advice welcomed

Is my dad dying?
In short, I want a clear answer if he is going to recover again or if I should be preparing for end of life, but the doctors say short to nothing-the last thing they said is that “
palliative
care
is only called once they have exhausted all options”.
