ICD/Pacemaker Job Done
Hi all. Got the implant op on Wednesday and home yesterday. Everything went like clockwork (excuse the pun). I cant praise the staff at Edingurgh Royal Infirmary enough. They were wonderful. It was a very strange experience being awake while this was going on. I could feel all the pulling pushing happening

He said worst case scenario, if it just gets worse and worse, he could do an AV node ablation and
pacemaker
, but that is obviously his last choice for options. He seemed to understand that the meds may just be a stop gap and that ultimately, I will be back in the EP lab.

Ablation of AV node after pacemaker put on in July
Well, I have finally had the AV node Ablation, after having the
pacemaker
placed in July. Now I don’t get arrhythmia anymore but very fast pulsations and low rates, always around the 80s and at rest 75. Guess the pm needs to adjust to a more acceptable pace. Waiting to see. Any ideas, please.

Afib/tachycardia
My last
pacemaker
check up showed that I had tachycardia during afib. I’ve had afib for years (24+) two ablations, no help. Only drugs are bisoprolol and apixaban.

I have a
pacemaker
as my heart rate was too slow . It has been fixed at 61. An AV node ablation has been mentioned. Are they successful?

Pacemaker and heated vests
Was hoping someone who is
pacemaker
wired -like I am - uses a heated vest with no repercussions. Other than being warm. Smile, breathe and go slow.

I was very ill for some time after and a week later needed to have a permanent
pacemaker
fitted. There were other difficulties which meant I was unable to travel home until 5th February.

POST OP
Immediately I was like what and he said during the ep after the ablation we have found somthing that unfortunately you may need to have a
pacemaker
I was in shock as they said if needed they do want to avoid me needing a pace maker due to my age.

pulse
Two years ago my husband had a total heart block and was hastily fitted with a
pacemaker
. Since then we have discovered he has Atrial Fibrillation 1.9%of the time and so takes Edoxaban. Nurse at surgery yesterday sat for ages clutching his pulse before finally telling him he wasn’t in AF then.

Disappearing AF.
A couple of years ago my
pacemaker
picked up episodes of AF . At the time I was already taking 10 mg of rivaroxiban as a maintenance dose due to blood clots in my leg. The anticoagulant doctor was looking at me stopping the rivaroxiban at this time .

A Recurring theme on this Forum - Should I stop my blood thinner after ablation?
Even though my AF burden is less than 2% again now because of the
Pacemaker
implant in 2018, I am rarely aware of it unless I have an infection when AF can last for 6-8 hours and I become symptomatic, I’m sticking with the A/Cs which I have absolutely no problems taking.

Child with inherited heart condition
He was fitted with a
pacemaker
in his 30s. I took my children to be tested and my Son was found to have the same gene. He has first degree heart block and partial brundle branch block. Luckily, he does not have a hole in the heart. My daughter doesn't have the gene.

ICD fitting tomorrow!
So, currently have a
pacemaker
fitted externally, this was done on Sunday (8/Oct/23), and have been given the option to have either a
pacemaker
or ICD fitted permanently from tomorrow. Prior to all this, my LQTS was managed with 160mg Propranolol daily.

early concerns/ paranoia
There was a 5 week delay in getting a MRI because I have a
pacemaker
(approved but very few labs will do it). My urologist’s office says they dont discuss the urine test until the MRI results are in (still another 10 days).

pacemaker and ectopics
We were under the impression that the
pacemaker
would control the ectopics and are a little concerned. Anyone have any knowledge of this please

too old for ablation?
About 5 years ago, she got a
pacemaker
and was put on sotalol & Metropolol, which controlled things well for a while. Recently, she’s been having more frequent episodes of afib (lasting a week or so at a time).
