Is it a choice? Pacemaker v Implanted defibrillator?
It's not common. Two consultants have expressed a view, the duty one saying
pacemaker
fitting the likely position by the end of the week. My consultant who had my LINQ loop ECG recorder fitted saying implanted defibrillator.

Update to ‘Waiting List’ post - cardiology appointment
However, it went like this: not sure what the urgency was for the appointment, nothing to worry about, slightly slow conduction, probably a progression of my heart’s wearing out electrics, wouldn’t need a
pacemaker
or anything like that for about 10 to 15 years, haha, (I’m 79), you’re ok with your AF

Pacemakers - what is your experience? The good, the bad and the ugly...
I may have to have a
pacemaker
fitted. Will I still be able to run long distance? What are the benefits and challenges you faced with your
pacemaker
... The dos and donts that May not necessarily be obvious.

Disappointment after Ablation Number 4
Is a
pacemaker
the inevitable next step? I’d be so grateful for any words of wisdom from fellow sufferers.

A “success story” , finally.
And in July 2023 I have a
pacemaker
insertion then in November had the AV Node ablation. It was needed a few weeks/months to deal with the heart's rate adjustment. And today I am happily feeling better than for long time. While the AF is still active it could not affect my heart function.

Afib induced syncope update from #chinkoflight
After all the full diagnostics the likely outcome will be ablations/
pacemaker
. All the experience shared has been helpful to hear this. Of course I am now on a mandatory 6 month driving ban which is a huge blow and will seriously impact my lifestyle.

CPAP Warning regarding ICDs and stents
All well apart from news I need a new face mask as current one has magnets which can affect medical implants such as
pacemaker
or even metallic stents. Phillips have recalled and Resmed have issued warning letter.

Pacemaker question
Does anyone know what a dual chamber
pacemaker
does besides preventing the heart beating too slowly? I was told mine reduced the duration of the QRS complex. I would be very grateful for information, or a source where I could get information.

Hello Everyone !!
In mid Jan 2024, I had an episode which was recorded on the loop recorder which showed my heart had stopped for 14 seconds and I was admitted straight away for a
pacemaker
. At the current time, am very shocked and surprised 😳 and sore but relieved that I have some explanation.

Hard lump after Pacemaker insertion.
I had a
Pacemaker
inserted in June but I have recently noticed a hard lump under the skin develop, immediately above the
Pacemaker
incision area. It doesn’t look red or inflamed but feels tender, tight and uncomfortable . Anyone else had this after a
Pacemaker
insertion?

New Pacemaker (Mk3) Incoming
Now that my current
Pacemaker
has reached a grand old 10years of age, I've been referred for new batteries/box. Should be straightforward enough, as the wiring seems to be fine, so a quick splice into the shoulder and old replaced with new.
