Disappearing AF.

A couple of years ago my pacemaker picked up episodes of AF . At the time I was already taking 10 mg of rivaroxiban as a maintenance dose due to blood clots in my leg. The anticoagulant doctor was looking at me stopping the rivaroxiban at this time . But due to the AF the cardiologist obviously said no and upped the dose to 20 mg. My pacemaker sent a scheduled download to the pacing clinic on Monday and it appears that I haven’t had an episode of AF in over a year. I am hopefully speaking to the cardiologist soon and am in two minds about asking if I can stop taking the rivaroxiban. Has anyone else been in a similar position.

The rivaroxiban has been given to you as a preventative measure to prevent strokes and other blood clots in your body. Having suffered a stroke myself from unknown AF at the time I would be reluctant to come off meds that were keeping me safe. It shows your pacemaker is doing its job in keeping your heart regular. Hope you keep well.
