Parathyroid Hormone Treatment for Osteoporosis
I have quite severe osteoporosis and the hospital consultant has recommended I start a 2 year course of daily Teriparatide injections, which I understand is parathyroid hormone. Does anyone have experience of this? I have already had an L2 compression fracture. This seems a better alternative to zoledronic

alpha lipoic acid and other supplements that interact with levo?
Hello. I have for a long while taken ala, it has a range of benefits but i have just started levo and heard that it interferes with t4 to t3 conversion. does anyone know if this means one should not take it at all or just leave a good time gap? is there a comprehensive list of supplements that one should

What (may have) helped me conceive?
Hi all, I'm now pregnant (cant believe im writing that!) And I wanted to share some of the things I did and supplements I took whilst TTC. Of course, I can't say whether any of these actually worked or helped but I know that when I was TTC I really appreciated hearing from others what they were doing

really long periods, heavy bleeding even though on the pill
As the title suggests, I've been having really long periods (see: 1+ months), spotting, really heavy bleeding at times, painful cramps and stabbing pains in my vagina, and fatigue. I'm on the POP pill without break so I shouldn't be having any periods at all but since last October they've been really

Advice wanted on supplements to take to try and manage osteoporosis the natural way
I have osteoporosis and don't want to take medication and want to go the natural route to stop bone loss/ possibly increase it slightly. I am trying to sort out what supplements to take, and am getting confused. A definite bit of advice coming through it to take organic calcium, eg Algecal. This

When do you give up....
On a supplement! I completely understand these things take time. However, my father is willing to trial supplements that have NO effect, but he feels something we added is contributing to fatigue and difficulty speaking in the last several days What we have started so far (with 2 day gap in between)

(New here!) Does endometriosis mean daily pain?
Hi, I am 19 years old and I've been suffering with severe period pain for about 6 years. I've been sick and almost fainted countless times. Went to my GP last year and was given mefenamic acid, which did nothing even when taken with painkillers. Went back to GP and was put on the pill. Still during pill

Parasympathetic Nervous System - Vagus Nerve
As many of you know along with AF I suffer from a relatively rare (we think?) condition called Myasthenia gravis which is a neuro muscular condition which most people haven’t heard of but has a similar affect to MS but through a different mechanism. For over 7 years I have been chasing missing bits

Autopsies tell us the secrets of Parkinson's...
The brains of Parkinson's patients tell us some of the secrets of the disease at autopsy... "For History must be our deliverer, not only from the undue influence of other times, but from the undue influence of our own, from the tyranny of environment and the pressure of the air we breathe". Acton.

Rheumatology appt
Thought I would update you lovely people . . . I had an urgent referral to rheumatology today after being put on 40 mgs of Pred ... going through my notes, experiences etc the doctor has come to the conclusion that I have Osteoarthritis of the spine rather than PMR - I think he's probably right given

Next step in getting answers?
Hi all, I've had problems with pelvic pain, horrendous cramping, painful sex etc for a year now, over the last 6 months I've had various tests. My ultrasounds suggested polycystic ovaries but my blood tests have come back as normal. I was prescribed mefenamic acid in Feb but it honestly doesn't do much

Alpha Lipoic Acid and anti-Coagulants
I am on Apixaban, Statins and blood pressure tablets. I suffer with thoracic back pain which when it flares is awful, a mixture of muscle and nerve pain. I am only able to take paracetamol which is useless in my case. I have also been advised by the G.P. and pharmacist that I should try Amitriptyline

Advice on Calcium Supplements Please
Two years ago I fell and fractured my wrist. A follow up dexa scan revealed osteoporosis. I was automatically prescribed Alendronic Acid which I fortunately refused as my astute GP noticed a high level of calcium on my bloods (it would have actually been damaging to my bones) and referred me to en endocrinologist

When should I be taking these vitamins and tablets?
Hi I’m currently pregnant and taking more tablets than normal so wondered if anyone had any advice on when I should be taking the following? Levothyroxine - I take it as soon as I wake in the morning then wait an hour at least before eating or drinking tea. Iron - twice daily - I take it around midday
