Urdsofalk... I am starting to shed hair. Has anyone else had this experience with

ursodeoxycholic acid?

HiI think a lot of us have experienced some hair loss but it does settle down. My hair dresser told me the other week that mine is thicker than it has been in years so don’t panic.

Thank you I am starting too. Lucky I have a lot of hair but seeing it fall out is a bit scary. I will let Usrdofalk know.

I only took URSO for 10 days. I lost quite a bit of hair just during that short time. I was taken off it because of allergic reaction. Hair stopped coming out. I was put on ocaliva and have never lost hair.

I didn’t choose to get off it. Had a horrible reaction. I have wished many times my body would have tolerated it.

I suppose is working within reason. When diagnosed 4 years ago, fibroscan showed fibrosis to be mild, stage 2. last September my Alk Phos was elevated and I had a biopsy. Pathology report said the majority of my fibrosis is still stage 2, with stage 3 in a small area. I’m thankful I had the biopsy, otherwise we might not have known. Also said I had drug induced hepatitis. Well, I have questioned if the ocaliva is causing damage, as the drug facts state that it can. Of course drs won’t admit to that possibility especially when it’s my only drug option at this time. 🤷‍♀️

Thank you for your reply...I think I have panicked as my hair brush seemed full of hair. I am waiting to see if I shed anymore!

Yes, I experienced a hair loss when I started the medication. I was on 1000, Then I reduced the doze to 500 and the hair stopped falling. Now after a year or 18 months (can't remember how long Ive been on it) I'm noticing the hair falling out more again. Bit upsetting as I have very fine hair. I'm hoping it's just a phase.

Yes especially after hair wash, i was told by the doctor its coz of the URSO.. not much can do about it though. It the least of my worries but thats just my opinion.

Stay well x

My hair loss turned out to be another autoimmune condition called Lichen Planopilaris. Also good to get thyroid levels checked. I was deficient in zinc which can add to the problem. Hope it settles down for you.

It’s hard cure one thing cause another. I have been taking Ursodexacholic for 20 years and my hair on top has thinned. When I spoke to Doctors I was told I’d had a hormone crash or “Female” pattern baldness! Sometimes it upsets me I bought a wig wore it twice now decorates my dressing Table! My liver on the other hand, with the addition of Bezafibrate taken in conjunction with Ursodexacholic, is now in excellent shape so what’s important thick hair or my health? I’ll perhaps buy another wig 😂,

Yes I've been on urso for nearly 9 years now. My hair is very thin because of it.
