Interesting visit with Rheumy - fat not edema!
I had a very interesting visit at the Rheumy e few days ago. We discussed MtX that I have started, and I have very good effect now after 4½ month, so he will increase from 20 mg to 25, and start decreasing prednisolone. I am on 12,5 mg now so down to 10 mg, and then very slowly 1,25 mg every 6 weeks.

Good news on the bone density front
Hi, this group is helpful and supportive and feels like an extended family. So I just wanted to share a bit of good news. I had a DXA 18 months ago not long after starting Prednisolone and my scores were: -0.1 in the spine which was healthy but not so good in the hip: -1.9 Total Hip T score

Colonoscopy update
PMRPro suggested I start a new post for the update on ‘Colonoscopy and Prednisolone’, so here it is. Firstly I’d like to thank everyone for their support and suggestions, which were very helpful. I survived the pre procedure routine, disgusting though it was and spent A LOT of time perched on the

Help with tapering Prednisone
I was diagnosed with PMR finally in Oct 23 after ending up in hospital unable to move. Doctors have been very dismissive and I have seen rheumatologist once and been signed off. I started on Prednisone at 12.5mg then reduced to 10 mg and have been told to reduce by 1mg per month. Is this a realistic

New diagnosis
Hi all, it has been a while since my last post. I was diagnosed in December in the end, with SLE and started on hydroxychloroquine and methyl prednisone. The last few months have been a bit all over the place. On the one hand, I’m so grateful not to be crazy. On the other hand, I’m angry that for so

Does it sound like PMR?
I have been to several specialists, but no one understands what is happening to me, their eyes always ends up swimming in their faces. After countless hours googling, I found this forum a could finally recognise things you have described here. I woke up with excruciating pain after a parathyroidectomy

The pain of PMR before being prescribed prednisone
I want to ask you how you dealt with the pain of PMR before being prescribed prednisone as when I look back at those incredibly painful and debilitating symptoms I had I wonder how I manged to carry on. My story was I was off on my holidays to Turkey and my knees were beginning to feel so stiff and

Good morning everyone, Ive just taken my fourth dose of prednisone (20mg). Definitely feeling a bit better but still bit achey & stiff. Should I be feeling completely better already or does it take much longer? I have taken Prednisone before for PMR and it worked wonders but I can't remember how quickly

Classification Criteria vs. Diagnosis Criteria
I learned something new while reading this article on PMR: https://www.cmaj.ca/content/193/46/E1770 It says "The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria can distinguish polymyalgia rheumatica from mimicking conditions." However, I then clicked

Hi there, I’ve (24M) been on fostair as a preventer inhaler since around the age of 17/18. My asthma has been extremely well controlled on 2 puffs BD for a number of years. However a few weeks ago I have quite a bad flare up which landed me in A&E twice and had a 2 week course of prednisolone. Since
