I am currently on 12.5 mg prednisone (tapering from 60 in Oct.) and weekly Actemra injections (about 4 months)
Double vision from high prednisone has resolved as I have tapered.
Occasionally I feel pain in my left eye, in the outer lower corner. It will hurt when I move my eye, and also hurts to the touch, like if I press slightly on my lower lid. It has happened maybe 4 or 5 times over past few months. It just happened now, and was pretty intense sudden pain, but resolved within 10 minutes. My eyesight seems fine. Any thoughts on this? It felt pretty scary this time, the most intense it’s been.

I would strongly advise a thorough eye health check-up. A number of things can go wrong with eyes with our conditions such as GCA, Cataracts and Glaucoma. I see my very well equipped optician every few months for peace of mind and an onward referral if needed. He keeps slides of my inner eye etc for monitoring purposes. Never ignore eye symptoms.
I think it is something that you need professional advice about - in the UK I'd say go to the optician-based ED service they provide but not sure how you go about it in the USA.
After my diagnosis I was put under the care of a Neuro-Opthamalogist and had MRI targeting the post orbital area of the eyes. This was done at Mayo in US. I strongly suggest you find one soon.
Thank you. I live on the coast of California, midway between L.A. and San Francisco. There are exactly zero neuro-ophthalmologists in my area, so I will have to go 3-4 hours north or south. I have an appointment with my ophthalmologist this afternoon. If he is no help, today, I will seek help in L.A.
