Two Questions
My sister and I, both in our '80's, take Omeprazole. She takes it because she has digestive problems. She says I should take it ate least half an hour before breakfast. Is she right? It says nothing on the information leaflet and my GP never told me that either. Question no. 2 is about sugar.

AF and reflux
hi everyone, I have had AF 15 years all under control now. I have always struggled with reflux and take omeprazole one 20mg per day. Just lately it is getting worse. I am 73 on Thursday. I was sent to A&E 24th of April triage nurse said may be suspected heart attack. Well that scared me. But I new

Lansoprazole and prednisolone
At a medication review last week, the pharmacist at my local GP surgery mentioned that I should perhaps be taking lansoprazole to protect my stomach so that has now been added to my increasing list of medications. As a bit of background, I was diagnosed with PMR in November 2022 and put on 15mg prednisolone

do doctors actually listen?
Just a little rant to get it off my chest because... Just had a lovely conversation with my doctor on the phone regarding recent test results. Not going into the joke that is them thinking my thyroid levels are fine, but one of the issues discussed is a chronic cough i've developed from Covid i had last

Are side effects pmr/hypothalamus/adrenal related?
Had some sort of flare, possibly activated by the bivalent covid booster although discussion on here suggested it did not seem like a normal flare, in December. See previous posts. Ended up on 15mg daily to get on top of it and dropped very slowly. I felt awful most of the time since then and lost weight

PMR confusion over drug timings
Hi, I have PMR and been taking prednisolone for about a year, trying to reduce and now on 9mg daily. I take Omeprazole in the early morning, before Pred. and then the calcium chew. I have seen on these posts recently that the calcium should not be taken near to the Pred as they do not react well with

Hi all - me again, it seems that I now have diverticular disease to add to my collection, finally got a GP appt friday evenong. This is apparently another condition that is at least in part due to the effects of steroids and possibly also Omeprazole. The 2 drugs I cannot give up! I am so upset. I just

Sudden onset poorly controlled asthma
Hi, Sorry it’s a bit of a long story but I am feeling rather lost with what has happened. I was absolutely fine until November maybe odd tight chest and shortness of breath but this could have been anxiety. I am now on GINA step 4 and still poorly controlled. I am waiting to see the specialist, the

Prednisolone and diarrhoea
Been on steroids for suspected GCA not quite three weeks now - went down from 50 mg to 40mg after first week. Not generally feeling too bad though not as bright as I was in the first few days of steroid honeymoon. Am having some issues with loose and sudden stools which initially I thought were an antibiotic

Hello Everyone This is my first post and I am writing it to seek your help and experience please, about the minefield that is anticoagulant medication. My husband, aged 74, has had ectopic heartbeats and SVTs for 30+ years and has taken Flecainide 100mg twice a day for that. He has normal blood pressure

PPI LONG TERM
I have a hiatus Hernia and have been taking Omeprazole 20 mg for 15 years approx. I have had terrible heartburn when trying to reduce the amount. I do worry about the long term health affects whilst on PPI's and would like to know if anyone has had success in controlling their stomach acid without PPI's

gastritis.. AGAIN
I am suffering from my second bout of gastritis type pain. Blood tests, ultrasound on gallbladder, spleen, kidneys, pancreas and stool hpylori tests have all come back clear. The last bout of it was due to ibuprofen which I took while I had covid. At that time the Gp put me on omeorazole 40mg daily .

NSAIDs
Hello All! I am writing to ask about the received wisdom of NSAIDs in this group... I have wicked foot and Achilles problems and it is possible an NSAID would be helpful. But apparently some are linked with a 76% higher probability of having Afib! A cursory glance at google tells me that Naproxen

MTX/Sulphasalazine, heart burn and weird sensory side effects.
Until recently I was taking MTX with Naproxen. I took lansoprazole with the naproxen as directed. In December I was given a course of steroids and came off naproxen/lansoprazole. I had acid reflux and assumed it was in part due to eating too much Christmas chocolate. Once I came off the steroids I went

Prednisone
Can anyone tell me if Prednisone has caused your skin to thin? I now find I am bruising very easily, I just need to lean too heavy on my arms and I bruise or I am bleeding without even knowing how I got cut? I am so tired all the time, although pain is not too bad. I am taking Methotrexate 10mg,

Chronic pain post navicular fracture surgery
Hey, new to posting but I’ve been looking for places with people who may have some similar experiences. I am 2 years post op to correct a navicular fracture which has healed well from a surgical aspect. I do however have chronic, debilitating pain on a daily basis now. I’ve seen surgeons and i’m waiting

Is there necessarily any necessity for Omeprazole?
Hello, I switched from Lansoprazole to Omeprazole because the Lansoprazole was causing diarrhoea. Now I have stopped taking the Omeprazole because that too became a bit disruptive of my bowel movements, though in a different way. The absence of the Omeprazole seems to have had no adverse effect. I

Upper airway obstruction on spirometry?
So I have had a history of rhinitis/polyps for the past 14 years, it is treated with daily nasal steroids/(drops if bad) and an antihistamine- though all allergy tests have been negative. About 2 months ago (after a period of anxiety it so happens) I had been using the steroid drops and started to
